We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Montessori Teacher to join our warm and supportive learning community.
This is a unique dual-role teaching position supporting both our Montessori Preschool program (ages 4–5) and our Independent School Primary program (Kindergarten–Grade 1).
Our school provides a nurturing, structured, and academically rich environment where children are encouraged to develop independence, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. We are a school with small class sizes, allowing teachers to build meaningful relationships with students and provide individualized attention.

About the Role
The successful candidate will work with both preschool and primary-level students and will play an important role in creating an engaging, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Montessori Preschool, Ages 4–5
- Guide and support children in a Montessori early learning environment.
- Prepare and maintain an inviting, organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
- Present Montessori materials and provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.
- Observe each child and support their individual developmental, social, emotional, and academic needs.
- Foster independence, concentration, confidence, grace and courtesy, and positive social interactions.
- Maintain accurate observations, documentation, and developmental records.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with parents and families.
Independent School – Kindergarten & Grade 1
- Teach and support a small group of approximately 10–12 students in a Montessori-inspired academic program.
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualized, and small-group lessons.
- Support student progress in literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and cultural studies.
- Adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
- Encourage independence, responsibility, critical thinking, and self-directed learning.
- Maintain student records, assessments, portfolios, and progress reports.
- Support a positive multi-age classroom community.
- Ensure instructional practices align with BC Curriculum and Independent Schools Branch requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Create a warm, respectful, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Promote students' independence, confidence, social development, and emotional well-being.
- Establish consistent and supportive classroom routines and expectations.
- Communicate openly and professionally with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, training, and school activities.
- Follow school policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records and support inspection readiness.
- Contribute ideas and initiatives that support continued school growth and program quality.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- ECE Certification recognized in British Columbia.
- Independent School Certification appropriate for teaching Kindergarten/Grade 1.
- Experience working with young children in a classroom or Montessori setting.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- A genuine passion for child-centered education and supporting the whole child.
Strongly preferred:
- Montessori training or certification.
- Experience in a Montessori or multi-age classroom.
- Experience teaching Kindergarten and/or Grade 1.
- Knowledge of the BC Curriculum.
- Familiarity with Independent Schools Branch requirements and documentation.
