Job Overview

Porter Warehousing is seeking a motivated Forklift Operator specializing in Reach Truck and Counterbalance forklifts to join our energetic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently handling, moving, and organizing inventory within our warehouse. Your mechanical knowledge, attention to safety, and ability to operate various equipment will ensure smooth operations and timely order fulfillment.

Schedule: Monday to Friday (overtime, statutory holidays, and weekends may be required) 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Responsibilities:

- Safely operate Reach Trucks and Counterbalance forklifts to pick, pack, and transport goods throughout the warehouse
- Conduct thorough inspections of forklifts before use to ensure safety standards are met
- Assist with order picking using forklifts and order picker equipment to fulfill customer orders accurately
- Build loads for transport from order sheets, checking every pallet before it leaves
- Keep orders accurate and paperwork complete
- Utilize warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records in real-time
- Perform heavy lifting tasks manually when necessary, ensuring proper technique to prevent injury
- Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing stock and maintaining a clean, safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to optimize storage space and improve workflow efficiency





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Proven experience operating Reach Trucks, Counterbalance forklifts, and clamp trucks in a fast-paced warehouse setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to forklift maintenance and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes and order picking procedures
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory counts and measurements
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and order processing
- Physical capability for heavy lifting, standing, walking, and manual handling throughout shifts
- Excellent attention to detail combined with safety-conscious practices

Qualifications:

- 2+ years on a sit-down counterbalance forklift and a reach truck (required)
- 3+ years of warehouse experience, including order picking and stacking product
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A strong safety record and a good eye for detail
- Comfort standing for long periods and lifting repeatedly
- Previous3PL (third-party logistics) experience is considered an asset

Working Conditions:

The work setting is primarily a warehouse environment, and office environment. Using computers, office equipment, RF Scan Guns, MHE equipment and working variable hours or overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires physical effort that includes periods of prolonged sitting, walking, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting, balancing and use of ladders and MHE equipment. The role may involve outside environments which includes uneven terrain, snow, rain, heat, cold, and icy conditions. Inside conditions may include dust and noise. Limited travel may be required.
