Apex Trials is looking for a friendly, confident and organized Clinical Trial Participant Recruiter to join our clinical research team in Guelph.
This is a people-focused role where you will speak with individuals interested in clinical research, complete preliminary screening questions, follow up with potential participants and schedule eligible candidates for study visits.
You will also help promote clinical research opportunities in the community through local events, community outreach and participant engagement activities.
This is an in-person position based at our Guelph clinical research site.
This role may be a great fit for someone with experience in:
- Medical reception or medical office administration
- Appointment scheduling
- Customer service or call centres
- Telemarketing, inside sales or outbound calling
- Healthcare or clinical research
- Community outreach or public-facing roles
Previous clinical research experience is an asset, but not required. Training will be provided.
This position may suit a post-secondary student looking for ongoing part-time hours, or an experienced professional looking to return to the workforce on a part-time basis.
What You'll Do
Participant Recruitment
- Speak with individuals interested in participating in clinical trials
- Contact potential participants from our existing participant database
- Conduct preliminary telephone and web-based screening
- Explain study opportunities clearly and professionally
- Answer general questions from potential study participants
- Schedule eligible participants for screening and study visits
- Follow up with participants by phone and email
- Maintain accurate participant information and contact records
- Work closely with Clinical Research Coordinators to support study enrollment
- Help ensure interested participants receive timely follow-up
- Support participant recruitment and retention initiatives
Community Outreach
- Help promote current clinical trial opportunities within Guelph and surrounding communities
- Represent Apex Trials at local events, health fairs and other community activities
- Engage with community organizations and members of the public to increase awareness of clinical research opportunities
- Assist with outreach initiatives designed to connect potential participants with relevant studies
- Support general recruitment campaigns and community engagement activities as needed
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is comfortable talking to people, enjoys working toward goals and can provide a positive experience to potential study participants.
You should have:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A friendly, professional and confident telephone manner
- Good organizational and follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfort using computers, databases, email and scheduling systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a clinical research team
- Comfort interacting with members of the public in both one-on-one and community settings
Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Medical reception or healthcare administration
- Booking medical appointments or interacting with patients
- Customer service or call-centre work
- Telemarketing, inside sales or outbound calling
- Clinical research or participant recruitment
- Community outreach, event promotion or other public-facing work
Post-secondary education is an asset but is not required.
Previous knowledge of clinical research, ICH-GCP, Health Canada requirements or medical terminology is also an asset, but is not required.
Schedule
This is a permanent part-time, in-person position based in Guelph, Ontario.
Some evening and weekend availability is preferred, as these can be effective times to reach potential study participants and may also be required for occasional community outreach events.
We aim to provide scheduling in advance and are open to candidates seeking ongoing part-time hours alongside school, family or other commitments.
Expected hours: approximately 20-30 hours per week
Location: Guelph, Ontario
Work arrangement: In-person
Compensation: $20-24 per hour, based on experience
