Position Overview

Edge Catering is looking for reliable, hardworking Culinary Assistants to support our culinary team in the preparation and execution of catered events throughout Vancouver.

This is an entry-level kitchen position and a great opportunity for someone interested in developing a career in culinary. Previous professional kitchen experience is an asset but is not required. We are looking for people with a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn.

You will work alongside our Prep Cooks, Cooks and Chefs while learning Edge Catering's food preparation, organization, sanitation and event production standards.

General Responsibilities

· Assist cooks and chefs with basic food preparation

· Wash, peel, cut and portion ingredients as directed

· Portion and package prepared foods

· Assist with assembling platters, sandwiches and other menu items

· Label, date and properly store food products

· Assist with packing and organizing food and equipment for events

· Receive and put away deliveries as directed

· Maintain refrigerators, freezers, dry storage and production areas

· Wash and sanitize kitchen equipment, tools and work surfaces

· Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift

· Assist with garbage, recycling and general kitchen cleaning

· Follow FoodSafe,



sanitation and workplace safety procedures

· Support Prep Cooks, Cooks and Chefs as required

Requirements

· No professional kitchen experience required

· Interest in food and willingness to learn

· Reliable and punctual

· Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team

· Able to follow instructions and established procedures

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced workplace

· Able to perform physical kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods and lifting reasonable loads

· FoodSafe Level 1 is an asset or must be obtained within a specified period after hiring

· Legally entitled to work in Canada

Hours & Scheduling

Edge Catering is an event-driven business, and scheduled hours will vary depending on business and event volume. A guaranteed number of weekly hours is not provided. Availability for a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings and weekends, may be required.

Pay: $18.25-$20.00 per hour
