The Strategic Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities supporting manufacturing operations, engineering initiatives, and special projects. The position ensures timely, cost-effective procurement while supporting cross-functional collaboration between Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and Logistics.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, or manufacturing support roles.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills.
- Experience working with MRP and ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is preferred.
- Robust attention to detail with the ability to manage data accuracy across systems.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing & Supply Chain
- Procure inventory items supporting Silverback & Mabre product lines, including Discharge Pumps, Suction Pumps, Pressurizer Pumps, and Top Drives.
- Support Inside Sales with the Mabre product line.
- Manage purchasing activities for special projects as required.
- Maintain and optimize MRP planning and scheduling parameters to support production requirements.
- Review planned order reports and release production orders in alignment with approved production plans.
- Ensure high-quality, timely procurement services are delivered to internal stakeholders.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Define and execute the appropriate buying channel for each purchase order, selecting suppliers based on total cost, quality, and lead time.
- Manage day-to-day interactions and communications with suppliers and internal customers.
- Lead and support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to ensure required quality, delivery performance, and minimized total cost.
- Conduct RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and competitive bidding processes to maximize value and mitigate supply risk.
- Evaluate and qualify new and existing suppliers through performance reviews, site visits, quality audits, and capability assessments.
- Drive part and process qualification activities, including First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Support and coordinate domestic and international logistics activities.
- Manage and communicate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within purchasing scope, ensuring timely resolution with suppliers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

Education:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Experience:
- Purchasing: 3 years (preferred)
- Microsoft D365: 3 years (preferred)
