Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Cornerstone Preschool is looking for a caring, dependable and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must:

- Be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- Hold a valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate
- Have knowledge and understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) and applicable licensing requirements
- Have knowledge and understanding of How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years
- Be able to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
- Meet applicable health and immunization requirements for working in a licensed child care setting

A minimum of six months of experience in a licensed child care environment is preferred,



although we welcome applications from RECEs who demonstrate a strong commitment to early learning and professional growth.

At this time, we are primarily seeking applicants who are registered RECEs. Applicants who are not registered RECEs may be considered where they meet the requirements for an approved Director Approval (DA) position.

Your Role

As a Registered Early Childhood Educator at Cornerstone Preschool, you will work collaboratively with fellow educators and centre leadership to create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment for children.

Responsibilities include:

- Developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote children's physical, cognitive, emotional and social development
- Creating engaging learning experiences based on children's interests, abilities and developmental needs
- Providing opportunities for creativity and exploration through art, dramatic play, music, literacy, physical activity and other developmentally appropriate experiences
- Using observations and documentation to support children's learning and program planning
- Establishing positive and appropriate approaches to guidance and behaviour
- Supporting children in developing independence and healthy eating, dressing and toileting routines
- Maintaining an environment that protects the health, safety, security and well-being of children
- Observing children for potential developmental, learning or behavioural concerns and communicating appropriately with families and centre leadership
- Communicating professionally and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding children's experiences, development and well-being




- Building positive and collaborative relationships with fellow educators, supervisors, families and community partners
- Maintaining required documentation and records
- Following Cornerstone Preschool policies and procedures and all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements

Physical Requirements

Working in early childhood education is an active role. The successful candidate must be able to perform the physical duties normally associated with working in a licensed child care environment, including periods of sitting, standing and walking, as well as bending, crouching, kneeling and participating actively with children throughout the day.
