As a QA Specialist you will work within the Quality Assurance department to support product release in Canada and International markets. The QA Specialist completes tasks related to monitoring, testing, reporting, and ensuring quality of cannabis product and processes with the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS). This position supports batch record review, production and material deviations, customer complaints related to the assigned department, and supports maintenance of the QMS with SOP, WI and batch record updated. The QA Specialist is responsible to ensure they and their assigned areas are consistent in the application of governing regulations throughout the Company. This position is perfect for a quality professional looking to share their knowledge and expertise with a growing and dynamic cannabis company.
This position is based out of Stayner, ON
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintain compliance with the laws and regulations related to cannabis products released to Canada and International markets
- Support the production and warehouse teams in the execution of their daily activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs and Wis
- Create and deliver quality alerts for operational issues that affect internal or external stakeholders
- Partner with Quality Technicians to prevent problems and/or ensure non-conforming product is prevented from reaching our customers
- Support problem solving teams using quality principles and tools for root cause analysis; validate implemented countermeasures for effectiveness
- Conduct complaint and deviation investigations, and ensure appropriate Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) are implemented and closed in a timely manner
- Work with other cross functional groups to review and assess change controls
- Conduct review and support activities related to QA records including but not limited to deviations, CAPAs, batch record review and label approvals
- Review and approve incoming materials, including cannabis and non-cannabis products
- Participate in and conduct monthly reviews of the assigned production and warehouse areas to ensure continued compliance with SOPs and WIs
- Support the updating of quality documents required to address quality concerns and/or reflect changes in business practices
- Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality of our products and processes throughout the organization
- Complete batch record reviews for accuracy and completeness, including reviewing and approving supporting documents, to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements that directly affect customer safety and satisfaction
- Support Quality Compliance team with external suppliers and contract manufacturing organizations to ensure Quality and Company requirements are met and maintained
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions, environment & Physical Demands
- Some overtime may be required
- Travel may be required as needed
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar position
- Knowledge Preventive Control Plan principles
- Intermediate knowledge of Health Canada Cannabis Regulations
- Solid understanding Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Production Practices, industry standards and their application to the manufacturing process
- Computer literacy to include knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel
- Problem solving and effective communication skills
- Communicate effectively in person and in emails
- Critical thinking skills and solid attention to detail
- Ability to work alone and in a team setting
- ASQ certification is an asset
- Experience in the cannabis space is beneficial but not required
Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000 (Stayner, Ontario*) per year
The actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, applicable market data, internal equity, and business needs, and may vary within the stated range. This role may be eligible for bonus, incentive compensation, or other variable pay in accordance with applicable company plans.
