Job Summary
Asante Logistic Group is looking for a hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead daily warehouse operations with a strong focus on operations, inventory accuracy, service efficiency, food safety (HACCP) and the safe handling of hazardous materials. You will run the team, protect the goods in our care, and make sure every shipment is received, stored, picked and released correctly and on time.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Inventory Control
- Maintain real-time inventory records, reconcile physical counts, and execute cycle counts and full stock takes to resolve variances.
- Apply FIFO/FEFO rotation, manage lot traceability, expiry dates, and damaged stock.
- Optimize warehouse layout, slotting, and space utilization.
- Planning and Scheduling
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse activities based on inbound/outbound volumes, container arrivals, and sailing schedules.
- Manage labor schedules, shift planning, overtime, and staffing coverage to align with workload and budget constraints.
- Coordinate dock and yard schedules, appointments, and trucking to prevent congestion.
- Schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, stock takes, and staff training to ensure zero service disruption.
- Forecast inventory replenishment and operational supply needs with purchasing.
- Prepare annual operating and capital budgets, setting operational goals and improvement plans.
- Service Efficiency and Operations
- Oversee receiving, put-away, picking, packing, loading, and dispatch to meet service levels and cut-off times.
- Track key metrics including inventory accuracy, order accuracy, on-time dispatch, dock-to-stock time, damage rate, and cost per order.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to resolve bottlenecks and reduce turnaround times.
- Coordinate with customer service, sales, transport, and freight teams to verify documentation (packing lists, BOLs, delivery orders).
- Food Safety and HACCP
- Implement HACCP-based procedures for dry food products, ensuring daily staff compliance and audit-ready recordkeeping.
- Maintain facility sanitation, pest control, housekeeping, and allergen segregation to CFIA and third-party audit standards.
- Address non-conformances immediately and manage corrective action plans.
- Hazardous Materials, Health & Safety
- Ensure compliant storage, labeling, segregation, and handling of dangerous goods (WHMIS/TDG).
- Maintain SDS, spill-response equipment, emergency protocols, and enforce PPE and equipment safety standards.
- Lead safety meetings, workplace inspections, drills, and incident investigations.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance
- Monitor warehouse equipment, enforce daily pre-shift inspections, and tag out defective machinery.
- Partner with maintenance teams to execute preventive maintenance programs and schedule facility repairs (roofing, doors, HVAC, fire systems).
- Maintain inspection records and assist with equipment replacement and repair budgeting.
- People, Training and Administration
- Recruit, schedule, supervise, and evaluate warehouse staff and supervisors.
- Organize and document operator certifications, safety programs, HACCP procedures, and job training.
- Oversee WMS/inventory software,
operational reporting, facility security, insurance claims, and vendor relationships.
Required Qualifications
- 4 to 5+ years of warehouse or distribution experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven track record in inventory management and improving service levels and efficiency.
- Strong planning, forecasting and scheduling skills (labour, space, dock and maintenance planning).
- Working knowledge of HACCP principles; certification is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and regulations (WHMIS, TDG or equivalent); certification required or to be obtained.
- Experience with a warehouse management system (WMS) or inventory software, and strong Excel skills.
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one; ability to train and evaluate forklift operators; knowledge of occupational health and safety rules.
- Experience overseeing equipment upkeep and preventive maintenance programs and working with maintenance teams or contractors.
- Strong leadership, team-building, organization and problem-solving skills, with clear communication in English (French or other languages an asset).
Assets
- Experience in import/export, container or freight-forwarding warehousing.
- Lean, 5S or Six Sigma training.
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain or business.
Working Conditions
Warehouse setting with time on the floor, some outdoor activities and exposure to varying temperatures, and the physical requirements of a hands-on role. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet operational needs.
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
