Director of Culinary / Chef de Cuisine

Join Pulse Family Club as our Director of Culinary / Chef de Cuisine and help shape a fresh, thoughtful, and elevated culinary program.

The Director of Culinary / Chef de Cuisine is responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of Pulse Family Club, including the childcare meal program, coworking catering, menu development, special events, and take-home meal offerings. This role combines hands-on culinary expertise with leadership and program development, ensuring that food is nutritious, appealing, thoughtfully prepared, and consistently reflects the quality and standards of Pulse Family Club.

This is a growth-oriented position. As Pulse Family Club continues to grow, the scope and responsibilities of this role will grow with the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help build and expand our culinary program, develop new food offerings and services, and take on additional leadership responsibilities as the department and business evolve.

Key ResponsibilitiesCulinary Program & Childcare

- Lead and oversee the daily culinary operations of Pulse Family Club.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of healthy, balanced, child-friendly meals and snacks for children ages 0–5.
- Develop, refine, and execute menus that reflect nutritional needs, seasonal ingredients, variety, and children’s preferences.
- Bring culinary creativity and professional expertise to menu planning, recipes, presentation, and overall food quality.
- Ensure meals are prepared consistently and to established quality and nutritional standards.
- Manage and accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and special dietary requirements in coordination with centre staff.
- Collaborate with centre leadership and staff regarding menus, substitutions, allergies, and dietary needs.

Coworking & Catering

- Oversee all culinary and catering services for the Pulse coworking space.
- Plan and prepare breakfast and lunch offerings for coworking members and guests.
- Develop catering menus and offerings for meetings, corporate gatherings, member events, and special occasions.
- Prepare elevated food offerings for cocktail events, networking events, and other Pulse Family Club experiences.
- Coordinate food preparation, presentation, portions, timing, and service requirements for catered events.




- Work with the Membership and Events teams to understand event requirements and create appropriate culinary offerings.
- Help develop a consistent and high-quality catering program that complements the premium Pulse coworking experience.

Frozen & Take-Home Meals

- Develop and prepare a selection of high-quality frozen take-home meals for families and members.
- Create practical, family-friendly meal options that are convenient while maintaining high standards for taste, nutrition, and quality.
- Establish appropriate recipes, portions, packaging, labeling, storage, and food-safety procedures for frozen meals.
- Monitor inventory and production levels to support demand while minimizing waste.
- Help develop and expand the take-home meal offering based on customer feedback, seasonal opportunities, and demand.

Kitchen Operations & Leadership

- Establish and maintain high standards for food preparation, presentation, kitchen cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper food storage, labeling, preparation, and handling procedures are followed.
- Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and supplies while maintaining appropriate stock levels and minimizing food waste.
- Monitor food costs and work within established budgets through thoughtful purchasing, portion control, efficient preparation, and responsible use of ingredients.
- Coordinate culinary needs for special events, family experiences, coworking events, and additional food programming as required.
- Provide guidance, direction, and training to culinary team members as the program grows.
- Establish efficient kitchen systems and procedures to support consistency, quality, and smooth daily operations.
- Stay current with culinary trends, nutrition practices, seasonal ingredients, and opportunities to enhance the culinary experience.
- Contribute to the continued development and evolution of the Pulse Family Club culinary program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Qualified culinary experience in a chef, sous chef, chef de cuisine, or senior culinary role.
- Culinary training or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience developing menus and recipes, preferably within hospitality, catering, childcare, family-focused,



or institutional settings.
- Experience with catering, event food service, and large-batch food preparation.
- Strong understanding of nutrition, food safety, and child-friendly meal preparation.
- Food Safe certification.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with centre leadership and staff.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage food costs, inventory, ordering, and kitchen operations.
- Creative and adaptable approach to menu development and culinary programming.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
