Position Summary
The Director of Quality shall lead the organization through development, implementation, and adherence to an established quality program. Develops and/or reviews standards, policies, and procedures for all functions and departments involved with or related to the production of all products. The Director of Quality has the authority and decision over the shipment of any product or products and accepts the responsibility for products following all regulatory and company standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the company with progressive change, identifies opportunities for improvement and creates solutions cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, sales, executive management, and CEO.
- Initiates all quality related communications internally and with external suppliers, vendors and partners during the manufacturing process
- Develops and coordinates activities for the AS9100 program including risk analysis, internal/external audits, supplier audits and management review meetings.
- Manages a team of quality control inspectors and quality assurance engineers executing the certification of a manufactured product
- Set up and continuously improve processes for incoming inspection of bare PCBs, in-process manufacturing and completed PCBAs.
- Direct and lead quality meetings providing process owners, management and executive teams required reports and data necessary for quality-related decisions.
- Observe technicians,
engineers and general staff engaged in assembly inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over products and manufacturing process outside the quality control department.
- Manages and maintains CAPA and RMA database. First to initiate customer communication with quality-related discussions after manufactured products have shipped.
- Investigate and resolve customer (internal and external) complaints regarding quality. Shall analyze and coordinate rework and/or nonconforming materials, Root cause and corrective actions (SCARs, CA, RCCAs)
- Maintain daily records and reports and prioritizes action-based schedules (print and electronic).
- Assist process owners in the proper use of quality forms, work instructions, and procedures.
- Plan and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability with process areas.
- Provide reports on an established frequency indicating the values and status of RMAs and/or nonconforming materials.
- Directly responsible for the retention of calibration records and ensuring that the calibration of the equipment is completed on the date that it is due.
- Directly responsible for management and maintenance of the quality manual.
- Develop and monitor the application of required quality standards declared by the organization.
- Responsible for Document Control system; publish and maintenance of revision, content, training and authors.
- Maintain IPC CIT (Certified IPC Trainer) accreditations for 600, 610 and J-STD standards.
- Recruit, screen and interview for positions.
- Ensure employee reviews are done in a timely manner.
- Process timesheet corrections and approve timesheets for payroll.
- Handle scheduling of time off and overtime.
- Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill Sets, Education, Experience
Required:
- Quality Management or technical study from an accredited college or university plus 5 years minimum experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
- Proven success providing strong leadership and guidance to all facets of the business (Executive, Engineering, Sales and Manufacturing)
- Bring a culture of quality, experience, employee value, mentoring and coaching
- Strong ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced, highly motivated setting.
- Provide proactive solutions and minimize reactionary traits.
- Ability to critically evaluate and solve complex problems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work scheduled hours and extra hours as required.
- Operate a computer and MS Office software at a proficient level.
- Proven skills in process redesign.
Desired:
- 5+ years’ experience in electronic manufacturing, PCB fabrication or assembly
- Current IPC certifications
