Semi-Private Strength Coach | Vancouver, BC

Iron Lab is looking for an experienced, personable Strength Coach to help us launch and build a new semi-private personal training offering on weekends.

The Opportunity:

This is a brand-new offering at Iron Lab, and we're looking for someone who wants to be more than the coach delivering an established class. This is an opportunity to help build and shape the program from the ground up and play a foundational role in what it becomes.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the coaching model, class structure, client experience, and growth of the program. We're looking for someone who sees the potential in building something of their own within Iron Lab, is excited to take ownership, and wants to grow alongside the program.

Our semi-private sessions will be small, with 2–6 participants, and designed to be very different from traditional group fitness.

This is true strength training. Sessions are methodical, intentional, and coaching-focused. Rather than moving quickly from exercise to exercise or following a workout to music, clients will spend meaningful time learning and mastering a small number of key movements.

Think strength training masterclass, not group fitness.

The Role:

This is a part-time weekend coaching position, with availability required on both Saturdays and Sundays in the morning or early afternoon. Exact session times will flex based on demand.

You'll coach groups of 2–6 clients while providing individualized coaching, attention, and appropriate modifications for each person.

Because this is a new offering, we're building the client base from the beginning. Sessions require a minimum of 2 clients to run, and the number of sessions and hours available will grow as attendance grows.

Compensation:

$45–$70/hour based on attendance, with the hourly rate increasing as additional clients join the session.

Sessions require a minimum of 2 clients to run.

Sessions that do not reach the minimum attendance are cancelled and are not paid.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable with this initial build phase and genuinely interested in helping us grow the program. As attendance grows, so does your earning potential.

What You'll Do:

- Coach semi-private strength training sessions for 2–6 clients
- Provide individualized coaching within a small-group environment
- Teach excellent strength-training technique and help clients understand not just what they're doing, but why
- Create intentional sessions focused on quality movement and progressive strength development
- Help develop and refine the semi-private training format as the program grows
- Build strong relationships with clients and provide an excellent coaching experience
- Adapt exercises appropriately for different experience levels and abilities
- Track client progress and communicate relevant updates with the coaching team
- Follow and contribute to Iron Lab's coaching systems and standards
- Help maintain the studio and take pride in the overall client experience

Who We're Looking For:

We're looking for an experienced coach who genuinely enjoys coaching people and understands that great strength coaching is about much more than counting reps or leading a workout.

You should be:

- A certified personal trainer with solid hands-on group coaching experience
- Confident coaching strength training and teaching movement technique
- Comfortable working with clients of different experience levels and abilities
- A strong communicator who is attentive,

approachable, and professional
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently while contributing to a team
- Eager to learn, improve, and contribute to the Iron Lab coaching method
- Excited to help build a new offering from the ground up
- Available both Saturdays and Sundays in the morning or early afternoon, with flexibility around gaps in the schedule
- Comfortable with the realities of a new program, including sessions being cancelled when minimum attendance is not reached

You don't need to know everything. We value coaches who are curious, open to feedback, and eager to improve.

At Iron Lab, we have a coaching method and standards that we work from, and we expect our coaches to contribute to a team culture where we continue learning from each other.

Why Iron Lab?:

- Private, skilled training environment
- Small groups with a strong emphasis on individual coaching
- A genuine strength-training focus
- No crowded commercial gym environment
- No exercise-to-music or traditional group fitness format
- Supportive team of experienced coaches
- Opportunity to help build and shape a brand-new offering
- Opportunity for the role and responsibilities to grow alongside the program

To Apply:

Please send us your resume and a short introduction telling us about your coaching experience, why you enjoy strength coaching, and why the opportunity to help build something new at Iron Lab interests you.

We're much more interested in who you are as a coach and how you work with people than simply seeing a list of certifications.

Pay: $45.00-$70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 10.0 per week

Perks:

- On-site gym
- Store discount

Experience:

- Personal Training/Fitness coaching: 1 year (preferred)
