Job Overview

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating, developing and converting group business for Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Ajax, maximizing guest room, meeting/event and related revenue. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this position manages assigned accounts and opportunities from prospecting and qualification through contracting, operational handoff and post-event follow-up, while supporting the hotel’s overall sales and revenue strategy.

Responsibilities

- Proactively solicit, qualify and secure new group business through outbound prospecting, referrals, networking, sales calls, RFPs and incoming inquiries.
- Develop and maintain corporate, association, sports, education, government, social, tour, wedding, entertainment and other appropriate group market segments.
- Respond promptly to leads; prepare professional proposals, quotations and contracts; negotiate rates, concessions, meeting room rental, food and beverage, cut-off dates, deposits, cancellation/attrition and other terms within approved authority.
- Meet or exceed assigned revenue, room-night, conversion, prospecting and sales activity goals; maintain a healthy pipeline and pursue business for identified need periods.
- Build long-term client relationships, manage assigned accounts, conduct site inspections and hotel tours, and follow up after groups/events to drive repeat and referral business.
- Maximize each opportunity by identifying additional guest room, meeting space, food and beverage and other hotel revenue while balancing client needs with hotel profitability.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of accounts, leads, activities, contracts, follow-up dates, group status, production and lost-business reasons in designated hotel sales/CRM systems.
- Monitor signed agreements, deposits, credit requirements, room-block pickup,



cut-off dates and contractual milestones; escalate significant changes, overdue requirements or unusual arrangements.
- Coordinate confirmed business with Front Office, Reservations, Food & Beverage, Events/Banquets, Housekeeping, Accounting, Maintenance and other departments, ensuring rates, billing, VIPs, special requests and operational commitments are clearly documented.
- Work with the Director of Sales, General Manager and Revenue Management as appropriate when evaluating opportunities, considering occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, displacement, meeting-space utilization, total revenue and market demand.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel products, room types, meeting facilities, services, Hilton programs, local demand generators and competitor activity; share relevant market intelligence with sales leadership.
- Represent the hotel and Hilton professionally at client meetings, networking events, trade shows, community events and sales missions, as assigned.
- Follow hotel policies, Hilton brand standards, privacy/confidentiality requirements and applicable legislation; do not make unauthorized pricing, credit, complimentary or contractual commitments.

Qualifications

- Previous Hotel Sales experience is required, with demonstrated experience in group sales, catering/events, account management, or hospitality sales. Hilton or branded hotel experience is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business, Sales,



Marketing or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated prospecting, negotiation, closing and relationship-management ability with strong commercial and revenue awareness.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, organization, time management, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and clients simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn hotel sales, CRM, PMS and reporting systems.
- Self-motivated, accountable, professional and collaborative, with sound judgment, initiative, adaptability and a strong client-service mindset.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PERFORMANCE

Hotel-based, client-facing position with regular computer, telephone and property-tour activity. Local travel and occasional evenings, early mornings, weekends or holidays may be required based on client and business needs. Performance may be measured by revenue/room-night achievement, conversion, current account development, prospecting activity, account retention, accuracy and timeliness of sales administration, client satisfaction, operational communication and contribution to hotel profitability.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
