Job Summary

We are hiring a hands-on EMC Engineer to run emissions and immunity testing in our 10 m semi-anechoic chamber and on the bench. You'll take products ranging from medical devices to industrial and automotive electronics through standards such as CISPR 32, IEC 61000-4-x, FCC Part 15 and ICES-003, write the reports customers use for certification, and help clients find and fix the problem when a product fails. If you enjoy troubleshooting real hardware and explaining what the receiver is telling you, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Test execution: Perform radiated and conducted emissions and immunity testing, including ESD, EFT/burst, surge, radiated and conducted immunity, voltage dips, harmonics and flicker, to CISPR, IEC 61000, FCC, ISED and EN requirements.
- Test planning: Review customer products and specifications,

identify the applicable standards and test levels, and write test plans.
- Setup and operation: Set up and verify the chamber, EMI receiver, antennas, amplifiers, LISNs and immunity generators so results are accurate and repeatable.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose failures, run pre-compliance scans, and work with customer engineers on root cause and fixes such as filtering, shielding, grounding and layout changes.
- Documentation and reporting: Produce accredited test reports, certificates of compliance and the supporting documents customers need for FCC, ISED and CE submissions.
- On-site testing: Perform field EMC testing and EMI site surveys at customer facilities when equipment is too large or too installed to bring to the lab.
- Project delivery: Complete work safely, within our ISO/IEC 17025 quality system, on time and to the customer's satisfaction, with several projects running at once.
- Customer and internal interface: Work directly with customers, our product safety and environmental teams, and lab technicians.
- Continuous improvement: Help improve test methods, automation and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. P.Eng or EIT is an asset.
- Experience:

1-4 years of hands-on EMC testing or EMC design experience, in a test lab or a product development environment.
- Technical knowledge: Working knowledge of EMC test methods and instrumentation (EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, antennas, LISNs, ESD, EFT and surge generators). Familiarity with CISPR 11, CISPR 32, IEC 61000-4-x, FCC Part 15, ICES-003 or IEC 60601-1-2 is an asset.
