A growing Canadian manufacturing company is looking for an Accountant & Systems Administrator to join our team.

We are a small, growth-stage company, and we're looking for someone who likes wearing multiple hats, solving problems, improving systems, and being involved in different areas of the business.

The role combines hands-on accounting with manufacturing cost tracking, ERP administration, reporting, process improvement, and technology. One day you may be completing month-end reporting, and the next you may be improving an Odoo workflow, analyzing the cost of a manufacturing project, or building a better internal report.

We're looking for someone who is technically curious, comfortable figuring things out independently, and interested in helping build the finance and operational systems of a growing company.

What You'll Do

Accounting & Finance

- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and month-end close.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including AR aging and collections follow-up.
- Process and reconcile payroll.
- Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare accruals, prepaids, and month-end adjusting entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and internal management reporting.
- Maintain and update rolling cash flow forecasts.
- Support year-end financial statement preparation and work with external accountants as required.
- Prepare GST/PST filings and support other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate, organized financial records and documentation.

Manufacturing & Project Accounting

- Maintain accurate job costing across manufacturing work orders and internal projects.
- Ensure materials, labour, subcontracting, and other direct costs are appropriately captured.
- Support work-in-progress and inventory accounting and reconciliation.
- Help develop and maintain appropriate labour rates and overhead allocations.
- Produce actual-versus-budget project cost reporting.
- Work with Operations and Engineering to improve time and cost capture.
- Support gross-margin reporting by product and project.
- Track costs and labour associated with government-funded and internal development projects.

Odoo, Systems & Process Improvement

- Act as an internal owner and administrator of the company's Odoo ERP environment.
- Help configure and improve Odoo workflows as the business evolves.
- Understand how transactions flow between Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Manufacturing,

Projects, and Accounting.
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards.
- Troubleshoot system and data issues and coordinate with external technical resources when required.
- Maintain clean master data and appropriate system controls.
- Support integrations between Odoo and other business systems.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive accounting and administrative processes.
- Use AI and other modern tools to improve reporting, analysis, reconciliation, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
- Develop and maintain SOPs for core accounting and systems processes.

You're a Strong Fit for This Role If You

- Enjoy wearing multiple hats and being involved in different areas of a business.
- Are interested in working in a startup or growth-stage environment.
- Like figuring out how and why things work rather than simply following an existing process.
- Naturally look for ways to make systems and processes better.
- Are comfortable taking ownership of a problem and working through it independently.
- Are curious about how finance, manufacturing, operations, and technology connect.
- Enjoy working with technology and aren't intimidated by ERP configuration, data, integrations, automation, or basic code.
- Actively use AI tools or are interested in incorporating them into your work.
- Want the opportunity to grow your responsibilities as the company grows.
- Are comfortable with change and with occasionally building the process rather than being handed one.

Experience & Skills

- Experience in full-cycle accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar finance role.
- Experience completing month-end reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Experience within ERP systems is required; hands-on Odoo experience is a strong asset.
- Manufacturing, inventory, work-in-progress, or job-costing experience is an asset.
- Solid Excel or spreadsheet skills.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Experience with reporting, automation, integrations, APIs, data tools, or basic scripting is an asset.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to join a growing company at a stage where one person can have a meaningful impact on how the business operates.

Rather than inheriting a rigid corporate structure, you'll have the opportunity to improve processes, build systems, work across different areas of the company, and take on increasing responsibility as the business grows.

If you're the kind of person who sees a broken or inefficient process and immediately starts thinking about how to make it better, you'll probably enjoy working with us.

Location

This is a fully remote position, with preference for candidates located in British Columbia.

How to Apply

Along with your resume, please include a short cover letter telling us about one specific system, process, or workflow you personally improved in a previous role.

Tell us:

- What wasn't working
- How you identified the problem
- What you personally changed or implemented
- What the result was

We're particularly interested in examples involving accounting systems, ERP software, reporting, automation, manufacturing, or operational processes, but the example itself matters less than how you approached the problem.

Please also briefly describe your experience with Odoo or other ERP systems, and tell us about one way you've used AI, automation, data, integrations, or basic coding/scripting in your work.

We're not looking for a formal cover letter. A clear, specific, and thoughtful response is more important to us than perfect formatting.

This search is being conducted confidentially. Additional information about the company and team will be shared with selected candidates during the interview process.

Pay: $53,100.00-$65,000.00 per year

Benefits:

- Dental care
- Flexible schedule
- Paid time off
- Work from home

Application question(s):

- What AI or automation tools do you currently use in your work? Give one specific example of how you've used one to save time, improve accuracy, or solve a problem.
- How many years of full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience do you have?
- Describe your experience with Odoo or other ERP systems. What did you personally use, configure, troubleshoot, or improve?
