Position Summary

The Sidewalk Snow Removal Team Member is a full-time seasonal position responsible for snow and ice management at commercial and municipal properties serviced by Liquid Amber Landscape Management.

The position primarily involves sidewalk snow removal, ice control, site inspections, and winter property monitoring. During active snow events, team members are responsible for clearing and maintaining their assigned properties. Between snow events, employees will complete scheduled site checks, monitor properties for changing winter conditions, address identified hazards as directed, maintain equipment, and perform other winter operations duties.

Normal working hours are generally early morning through mid-afternoon. However, winter operations are weather dependent, and start times, end times, and shift lengths may change based on snowfall, freezing conditions, operational requirements, and the duration of a storm.

Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable employment standards.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Remove snow from sidewalks, pathways, building entrances, stairs, ramps, emergency exits, waste enclosures, and other designated pedestrian areas.
- Operate snow blowers, power brooms, sweepers, shovels, and other sidewalk snow removal equipment.
- Apply approved ice melt, traction materials, and other ice-control products as required.
- Complete assigned properties and service areas according to site-specific scopes of work, service standards, and supervisor instructions.
- Perform scheduled site checks between snow events.
- Inspect assigned properties for ice, drifting snow, refreezing, meltwater, packed snow, drainage issues, and other winter hazards.
- Take appropriate corrective action within the assigned scope or immediately report conditions requiring additional attention.
- Pay particular attention to entrances, stairs, ramps, shaded areas, high-traffic locations, drainage areas, and other locations susceptible to ice accumulation.
- Re-service properties when conditions require additional snow or ice management.
- Complete required photographs, service records, site inspection records, and other documentation accurately and promptly.
- Communicate site conditions, hazards,



service concerns, delays, or unusual conditions to the Foreman or Snow Operations Coordinator.
- Safely load, unload, transport, operate, clean, fuel, and maintain assigned equipment.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical problems or damage.
- Report accidents, injuries, property damage, equipment damage, and safety concerns immediately.
- Follow all Liquid Amber health and safety policies, safe-work procedures, and client-specific requirements.
- Maintain professional conduct when interacting with clients, members of the public, City personnel, coworkers, and subcontractors.
- Assist other crews and service areas when operationally required.
- Perform shop, equipment, property, and other winter operations duties between snow events as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Hours of Work & Scheduling

This is a full-time seasonal position from October 1, 2026 through April 15, 2027.

Regular shifts will generally begin in the early morning and continue through mid-afternoon. Exact start and finish times will be established based on operational requirements.

Employees must understand that snow and ice operations are weather dependent. During active or prolonged storms:

- Shifts may begin earlier or continue later than normally scheduled.
- Employees may be required to remain at work until assigned properties have been adequately serviced.
- Work schedules may be adjusted to respond to changing weather and site conditions.
- Extended shifts may be necessary during significant snow events.
- Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable employment standards.

Between snow events, employees will continue to work their regularly scheduled shifts performing site checks, ice monitoring and treatment, equipment maintenance, shop duties, and other assigned winter operations work.

Attendance & Reliability





Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Winter operations depend on employees reporting to work as scheduled, particularly during snow events when service requirements and public safety responsibilities increase significantly.

Employees are expected to:

- Report to work on time and prepared for their scheduled shift.
- Maintain regular and dependable attendance throughout the employment term.
- Be prepared for schedule adjustments caused by significant or prolonged winter weather.
- Notify their supervisor of an absence or delay in accordance with company attendance procedures.
- Remain available for the duration of their scheduled or extended shift unless released by a supervisor.

Qualifications

- Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction, or outdoor labour experience is an asset.
- Experience operating snow blowers, power brooms, sweepers, or similar equipment is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and acceptable driver's abstract are preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and site-specific instructions.
- Ability to use a smartphone for communication, photographs, timekeeping, and service documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize potential winter hazards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of working productively with limited supervision.

Physical & Working Requirements

Employees must be capable of:

- Working outdoors in cold temperatures, snow, wind, freezing rain, and changing winter conditions.
- Walking and standing for extended periods.
- Shovelling snow repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Safely lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment and materials associated with snow removal.
- Operating snow removal equipment for extended periods.
- Walking and working on snow-covered, icy, uneven, and slippery surfaces.
- Performing physically demanding work for extended shifts when weather conditions require.
- Wearing appropriate winter clothing and required personal protective equipment

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
