Bigstone Child & Family Services is seeking a Finance Officer to support day-to-day financial administration, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation.

LOCATION: On-site, Wabasca, AB

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full time Permanent

REPORTS TO: Finance Controller

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Prepare and record journal entries as required
- Maintain financial records, receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Review submitted financial information for completeness and accuracy and follow up on discrepancies
- Reconcile accounts and vendor statements and prepare required corrections or adjustments
- Enter financial information into Sage accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Maintain vendor information and communicate with vendors as required




- Assist with annual audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as requested
- Complete required data entry and organize supporting documentation for financial reporting and purchase orders
- Provide accurate and timely information and service to internal and external contacts

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:

- Business Administration Certificate, Accounting Diploma, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience using Sage accounting software is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and standard office systems
- Good understanding of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting practices
- Strong time-management, organizational, accuracy, and confidentiality skills
- Experience working with First Nation communities is an asset
- Ability to speak or understand Cree is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
