Barista

Location: The Table Plaza Café, 12 Cann Street, Huntsville, Ontario

Part-Time Hours: 6:30 am - 11:00 am OR 10:30 am - 2:30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday

Reports To: Café Coordinator

Position Summary

We are seeking two part-time Baristas, to work Tuesday through Saturday, working a shift from 6:30 am - 11:00 am OR a shift from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm.

The Barista at The Table Plaza Café is responsible for providing friendly, welcoming service to customers while preparing and serving hot and cold beverages and Café food offerings. The successful candidate will help create a positive experience for everyone who visits The Table Plaza Café by providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized café environment, and working as part of a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, cold beverages, sandwiches, desserts and light meals according to established standards.
- Take customer orders accurately and process payments using the Café’s Clover POS system.
- Answer customer questions about menu items and provide assistance with selections when needed.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming Café and customer service area.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, counters, tables, and other surfaces as required.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and health and safety procedures.
- Monitor inventory and restock coffee, beverages, food items, cups, condiments, and other supplies.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Handle cash and card transactions responsibly and accurately and balance cash at day’s end.




- Work cooperatively with our staff and volunteers to ensure the Café operates smoothly.
- Help create an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for customers, volunteers, and coworkers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Ability to work the hours noted above.
- Previous experience in a Café, restaurant, or food service environment is an asset.
- Food Handler certification is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
- Comfortable learning and using a POS system.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to follow food safety, health and safety, and workplace procedures.
