Job description

Primary Functions:

- Install, repair, and replace conventional and inverted built-up flat roofing systems using materials such as asphalt-saturated felts, hot asphalt, gravel, etc.
- Install, repair, and replace modified bitumen roofing systems, single-ply sheet membrane systems, etc.
- Specifically, such install, repair, and replacing tasks including but are not limited to:
- Ensure safety set-up is performed on site before any construction is completed such as installing guardrails, bump lines, etc.
- Inspect problem roofs to determine the best repair procedures.
- Set up ladders to provide safe access to roofs
- Install partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces, using chalk lines, gauges on shingling hatchets, or lines on shingles
- Install roofing materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric, other asphaltic compositions, etc.
- Apply reflective roof coatings, such as special paints or single-ply roofing sheets, to existing roofs to reduce solar heat absorption.
- Apply alternate layers of hot asphalt or tar and roofing paper to roofs.
- Install vapor barriers or layers of insulation on flat roofs.
- Mop or pour hot asphalt or tar onto roof bases.
- Apply gravel or pebbles over top layers of roofs, using rakes or stiff-bristled brooms.
- On and off load materials from vehicles and trailers.
- Use hand/power tools to complete roofing tasks safely and efficiently.
- Act as a signaller for cranes, vehicles, and other equipment when needed.
- Operate various equipment, when trained and/or qualified, including kettle, drive vehicles, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Frequent:

- Construction site environment where exposure to hazards are high, and may include but are not limited to fall from heights, moving vehicles, falling objects, environmental hazards such as weather, etc.
- Outdoor environment related to construction sites, yard, etc. where exposure to hazards are low to moderate, and may include but are not limited to slips, trips, and falls, weather such as rain, wind, UV rays, moving vehicles, etc.
- Vehicular travel that may include but is not limited to training providers, jobsites, customer workplaces, seminars, etc.



Hazards include but are not limited to outside elements such as weather, slips, trips, and falls, etc. and motor vehicle accidents from distracted driving, pedestrians and other road vehicles, weather, etc.
- Unfamiliar office and public indoor environments that may primarily include customer or training provider facilities that range from offices, factories, retail, prisons, etc. where exposure to hazards could vary widely from minor to high hazards and may include, but are not limited to, slips, trips, and falls, office electrical equipment, ergonomic issues, and poor housekeeping, falls from heights, noise, chemicals, etc.

Occasional:

- Industrial environments such as shops and warehouses where exposure to hazards are moderate to high, and may include but are not limited to slips, trips, and falls, noise, falling objects, chemicals, falls from heights, etc.

Minimal:

- Indoor office environment where exposure to hazards are low, and may include but are not limited to slips, trips, and falls, office electrical equipment, ergonomic issues, and poor housekeeping matters.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT

Frequent:

- Standing
- Walking
- Ladder climbing
- Operate equipment – if given authority and qualified
- Lifting low to heavy weighted objects to and from waist, shoulder, and ground level – 80 lbs
- Crouching
- Kneeling

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$44.00 per hour
