About Little Wonders Academy

At Little Wonders Academy, early learning is never treated as custodial childcare. We recognize early childhood as an extraordinary window of discovery, inquiry, and intellectual momentum.

Located in Southwest Calgary, our boutique academy balances the natural curiosity of child-led exploration with the intentional academic and social foundations children need to thrive in school and beyond. Through open-ended STEAM experiences, rich literature, purposeful provocations, and intentional care, we cultivate confident thinkers, empathetic peers, and enthusiastic lifelong learners.

We are assembling a faculty of thoughtful, curious, and collaborative educators who take genuine pride in their craft and want to co-create an inspiring culture.

The Role: Toddler Room Educator

We are seeking an Alberta-certified Level 3 Early Childhood Educator who sees themselves as someone who loves designing intentional learning spaces, listening deeply, and guiding children as they prepare for their next educational milestones.

In this role, you will:

- Curate the Environment as the "Third Teacher": Design intentional, uncluttered classroom provocations that spark curiosity across literacy, numeracy, engineering, practical life skills and the arts.
- Make Learning Visible: Move beyond standard checklist reviews to capture meaningful pedagogical documentation that tells the story of children's thinking, learning and development.
- Cultivate Academic & Social Foundations: Support executive functioning, emotional resilience, peer collaboration, and everyday readiness in a way that feels organic, playful, and rigorous.
- Embrace Whole-Child Care with Dignity: Respect that personal care, mealtime rituals,

and outdoor play in all seasons are just as foundational to connection and trust as tabletop activities.
- Partner with Engaged Families: Build warm, transparent, and professional relationships with parents who care deeply about their children's early development.

Who You Are

- You are an Alberta-certified Level 3 Early Childhood Educator (Child Development Supervisor).
- You view children as capable, curious, and rich with potential.
- You bring calm energy, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence into the learning space.
- You thrive in a collaborative team culture, sharing ideas freely and approaching skilled feedback with curiosity and a growth mindset.
- You understand that authentic everyday readiness is not built through dry worksheets, but through language-rich conversations, critical inquiry, task perseverance, practical life skills and deep play.

What We Offer

- Competitive Compensation: $28.00 – $30.00/hr (inclusive Alberta wage top-up)
- Curated, Beautiful Workspaces: Classrooms equipped with abundant natural light, premium open-ended materials, and intentional resources.
- True Professional Respect: Dedicated paid planning time, ongoing professional development opportunities, and leadership that values your voice and pedagogical autonomy.
- A Collaborative Team: A supportive environment where educators are valued as professionals.

Section 2: Scenario-Based & Personality Application Prompts

Choose two of the four scenarios and provide details on how you would address these situations. There is no right or wrong answer, we want to get to know you!

1. Pedagogical Inquiry

- "Imagine you observe a small group of 2-year-olds repeatedly building tall wooden towers and knocking them over, causing frustration for other children nearby. Traditional advice might just say 'stop throwing blocks.' How would you intervene in this moment to turn this dynamic into an intentional learning and problem-solving opportunity?"

2. Communication & Parent Partnership

- "A parent approaches you at pickup and mentions they feel their child is 'just playing all day' and asks when they are going to start practicing writing letters and numbers. How do you respond in that moment to validate their concern while articulating the value of your classroom's approach?"

3. Emotional Attunement & Daily Care Routines

- "Daily rituals like toileting transitions, winter gear changes in -15°C weather, and lunch cleanup can be physically and emotionally demanding. What personal habits or mindset help you bring warmth, calm, and patience to these daily care moments?"

4. Team Culture & Growth Mindset

- "Tell us about a time you received constructive feedback on your classroom setup or teaching practice that initially felt uncomfortable. How did you process it, and what did you learn about yourself as an educator?"

How to Apply

Submit your resume and a brief cover letter with responses to the scenario questions. If you use LLMs to write your cover letter, include your prompts at the end of your letter.

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
