Steenhof Building Services Group is a multidisciplinary engineering firm delivering structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural solutions across Canada. We specialize in modular construction, mining, and northern and remote infrastructure, and complex project delivery, supporting clients in sectors including mining, housing, and public infrastructure.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to take a leadership role within our team, with flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional design role. You will play a key role in leading projects, mentoring staff, working directly with clients, and helping shape the growth and direction of our Calgary team. You will be trusted to lead, make decisions, and help define how we deliver projects as we grow. The Position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work closely with the Mechanical Department Manager and broader leadership team to deliver projects with a high standard of technical excellence and engineering integrity.

You will take a lead role in planning, executing, and overseeing electrical work, ensuring project objectives are achieved in alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. In addition to technical delivery, you will contribute to project strategy, client engagement, and team development, driving consistent,



high-quality outcomes.

This role includes both hands-on engineering and leadership responsibilities, with the opportunity to influence project delivery approaches and contribute to the continued growth of our team.

Projects range from modular housing and commercial buildings to infrastructure and remote community developments.

Responsibilities

- Lead electrical assessments, feasibility studies, and design development for a range of building and infrastructure projects
- Prepare and review electrical designs, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Conduct site reviews and field inspections to ensure alignment with design intent and applicable standards
- Manage projects through all phases, maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and quality
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates for current and existing clients
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering staff, supporting team development and maintaining high standards
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and project leadership
- Support the growth of the Calgary office through project leadership and client engagement

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in any Canadian province.
- 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, with demonstrated responsibility for design and delivery of building projects
- Experience with electrical analysis, design, and preparation of construction documents in a consulting environment
- Proficiency in electrical analysis software and design tools; strong working knowledge of both AutoCAD and Revit required




- Experience with the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) and relevant standards for electrical design (e.g., CSA C22.1, CAN/ULC-S524, IEEE 551 / IEEE 3002.3)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams
- Eligibility for registration in multiple Canadian provinces is considered an asset
- Experience sealing drawings and taking professional responsibility for designs is considered an asset
- Experience in mechanical design is considered an asset
- Experience with AGi32 and ETAP is considered an asset

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

- Strong technical foundation in electrical engineering principles and building systems
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working across multiple electrical systems (power distribution, interior and exterior lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, coordination with data systems, etc.)
- Strong coordination skills across disciplines and project teams
- Solid understanding of Canadian codes, safety requirements, and regulatory frameworks
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capability
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to guide and support a project team
