Bernhausen Diesel – Langley, BC
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | No Weekends
$75,000–$95,000 per year
About Bernhausen Diesel
Bernhausen Diesel is an established specialty automotive and truck repair facility in Langley, BC. We specialize in ¾-ton through 5-ton trucks, with a strong focus on Ford Powerstroke, Ram/Cummins and GM Duramax platforms.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Service Advisor to manage customer communication, repair planning and day-to-day shop workflow.
This is not simply a front-counter position. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping work moving efficiently from the initial customer concern through failure analysis, estimate approval, repair and final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and accurately document vehicle concerns and requested work.
- Create and manage repair orders using ShopKey Professional SE.
- Translate customer concerns into explicit work requests for technicians.
- Review technician findings and build accurate estimates and repair plans.
- Explain technical findings and repair recommendations to customers in clear, practical language.
- Present high-value repair estimates professionally and confidently.
- Obtain repair authorizations and accurately document customer decisions.
- Coordinate technician workflow, priorities and vehicle scheduling across an 8-bay repair facility.
- Monitor jobs throughout the day and identify delays, parts issues and authorization requirements before they stall production.
- Maintain communication with customers regarding findings, costs, timelines and changes in repair scope.
- Work closely with the parts department to ensure required parts are identified, ordered and available when needed.
- Review technician time and repair orders to ensure labour performed is properly documented and billed.
- Ensure technician notes are complete, professional and suitable for customer-facing repair documentation.
- Prepare completed repair orders for invoicing and vehicle delivery.
- Handle customer concerns and warranty situations professionally and consistently.
- Balance scheduled appointments, failure analysis, larger repairs and unexpected work.
- Maintain a strong focus on technician productivity, shop efficiency and customer communication.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Senior Service Advisor, Service Manager, Shop Foreman or experienced automotive/truck technician with strong organizational and customer communication skills.
Robust candidates should have:
- Automotive, diesel or commercial truck repair knowledge.
- Familiarity with Ford Super Duty/Powerstroke, Ram/Cummins and GM Duramax trucks.
- The ability to understand technician findings and convert them into a logical repair plan.
- Strong estimating and customer communication skills.
- Experience presenting and explaining high-value repairs.
- The ability to manage multiple active repair orders simultaneously.
- Good judgement regarding workflow, technician utilization and repair priorities.
- Strong computer skills, including proficient keyboarding skills necessary for efficient and accurate data entry, repair-order documentation, estimating and customer communication.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both experienced technicians and customers who may have limited mechanical knowledge.
- A professional approach to difficult customer conversations, warranty situations and high-dollar repairs.
- An understanding that accurate documentation is an important part of the repair process, not an administrative afterthought.
Experience with ShopKey Professional SE, Mitchell 1 or similar shop-management software is an asset.
A technician background or Red Seal Automotive Service Technician or Commercial Transport Technician qualification is an asset but is not required for the right candidate.
Diesel experience is preferred; however, strong automotive or truck service experience combined with good technical aptitude will be considered.
Our Shop

Who Will Succeed Here
This position will suit someone who understands that a robust service department requires more than answering phones and writing estimates.
You need to be comfortable making decisions, setting priorities, following up with technicians, communicating expensive repair recommendations, keeping customers informed and ensuring work does not sit unnecessarily waiting for the next step.
We are looking for someone who can balance the needs of the customer, technician and business. That means protecting customer authorization, recognizing the value of technician time, maintaining accurate documentation and keeping repairs moving efficiently.
If you have strong automotive or truck knowledge, can keep an active shop organized and know how to communicate professionally with both technicians and customers, we would like to hear from you.
Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
