Title: Shop Drawing Detailer & CNC Programmer
Payrate: $30 - $40
Location: Toronto, ON
This is not an entry-level drafting position.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to become
one of the best manufacturing engineers in custom
millwork industry.
About the Role
You will be responsible for transforming architectural drawings, design intent, and field dimensions into highly accurate production-ready shop drawings and CNC programs. Your work will directly impact:
- Production efficiency, Installation success, Manufacturing quality, Company profitability, Customer satisfaction
- Every drawing you release must be ready to manufacture.
- Every CNC file you create must maximize efficiency while minimizing waste and rework.
What You'll Do
- Engineering & Shop Drawings
- Develop complete production-ready shop drawings
- including:
- Custom cabinetry
- Reception desks
- Wall panel systems
- Commercial millwork
- Feature walls
- Doors & frames
- Architectural woodwork
- Custom furniture
- Prepare detailed:
- Plans
- Elevations
- Sections
- Details
- Hardware layouts
- Joinery
- Installation details
- Material specifications
- Edge banding requirements
- Assembly methods
- Labeling systems
- Ensure every drawing includes:
- Complete dimensions
- Tolerances
- Finished panel locations
- Grain direction
- Hardware placement
- Lighting requirements
- Installation clearances
- Sequencing information
CNC Programming
Create efficient CNC machining programs for production using Mozaik (or equivalent software). Responsibilities include:
- Nest optimization
- Toolpath creation
- Drilling operations
- Dados
- Grooves
- Routing
- Part labeling
- Tool selection
- Machine optimization
- Your goal is to reduce machine time while increasing
- manufacturing accuracy.
Production Engineering Collaborate daily with:
- Project Managers
- Estimators
- Production Manager
- Cabinetmakers
- Installers
- CNC Operators
- Purchasing
- Review every project before release to ensure:
- Manufacturability
- Material optimization
- Hardware compatibility
- Installation feasibility
- Cost efficiency
- Quality standards
Continuous Improvement

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience in:
- Custom millwork
- Architectural woodworking
- Cabinet manufacturing
- Production engineering
- Experience with:
- Mozaik CNC Software
- AutoCAD
- Cabinet Vision (asset)
- Microvellum (asset)
- Alphacam (asset)
- CNC machining
- Nested-based manufacturing
- Strong understanding of:
- AWMAC Standards
- Commercial millwork
- Residential millwork
- Cabinet construction
- Hardware systems
- Manufacturing processes
Technical Skills
You should possess advanced knowledge of:
- Cabinet construction methods
- Material optimization
- Joinery
- Hardware selection
- CNC tooling
- Manufacturing tolerances
- Engineering standards
- Architectural drawings
- Site measurements
- Wood products
- Laminates
- Veneers
- Solid wood
