SkyFire Energy is seeking a motivated Electrical Apprentice to work on our Solar Operations and Maintenance team in Medicine Hat, AB.

What the role offers:

- Compressed work week scheduling (Monday-Thursday) - 3 day weekends!!

- Overtime options

- Permanent, full-time positions (work is available 12 months of the year)

- Ongoing on and off-site training

- Indentureship in the electrical trade and room to grow in the company

Primary duties of the job include:

- Contributing to the operations and maintenance of utility scale solar plants across Western Canada

- Ensure crew and job site safety, including proper use of PPE and Fall Protection

- Aiding senior technicians in their daily responsibilities, including cleaning, organization, record keeping, reporting, equipment maintenance and repair

- Using hand tools, both manual and powered. Safely using multi meters and other electrical testing devices.

- Helping with site upkeep as required

- Providing friendly service to all customers

- Highway driving in all weather conditions

- Weekends on call, twice per month

- A mix of weekdays spent locally and away

Qualifications (must haves):

- Ability to carry items up to 60lbs throughout the day





- A commitment to safety, a high level of spatial awareness and solid critical thinking skills

- Comfortable working long days and the ability to be flexible with scheduling

- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, year-round

- Willing to work out of town regularly

- Reliable transportation to and from work

- Registered for Electrical Apprenticeship, or interest and ability to become an Electrical Apprentice

- A valid class 5 license, with a clean driving record

- CLB 7/Intermediate is the minimum English level required for safety protocol

- Exhibit a high level of responsibility, honesty, alertness and accountability

- Amicable and respectful towards other team members

Assets (preferred but not required):

- Prior construction/trades experience is preferred, on job training will be provided

- Solar training and/or solar installation certification (SAIT, NAIT, NABCEP, SEI, etc)

- Solar installation experience

- Valid Fall Protection training/certification (otherwise provided by SkyFire)

- Prior training or safety certifications i.e heavy equipment, electrical safety, first aid.
