Primary Duties
- Assign work to staff, organizes assigned work activities to ensure timely and productive completion.
- Assist in planning and ensuring the replacement of meters are completed, asking for required resources
- Assist, support and coordinate complex metering arrangements driven by customer requests that address technical requirements.
- Track, identify and resolve metering problems such as non-reads, incorrect data or suspicious consumption data are followed up on and resolved.
Follow up and regularly communicate with the appropriate management staff provide regular updates on status.
- Liaise and communicate with regulatory bodies to ensure meter life cycle is completed, including testing, reverifications, sampling, seal extension are met, in the allotted time frames.
- Assist with new metering technologies opportunities
- Ensure all safety protocols are always followed
- Ensure management is aware if resources are required, ensuring resources are deployed to support work activities.
- Collaborate closely with Service, Billing and Engineering on all metering activities.
- Ensure metering levels are maintained
- Assist with training requirements of others as required
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
- Minimum two-year Diploma from an accredited Community College in an Electronic, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering field
- Possession of a Journeyperson Measurement and Communications certification status (four-year training program)
- G3 Gas Certificate is considered an asset
- Experience in an electrical or natural gas environment, in a utility environment is considered an asset
- Experience analyzing consumptive and power quality data
- Experience with specialized metering software is considered an asset
- Familiarity with analyzing equipment and communication systems. Candidates should identify all systems with which they have experience
- Technically proficient, expertise with the Microsoft Office suite of software
- Demonstrated ability to use intermediate mathematical skills
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- ability to contribute to a team.
- ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and customers, written and verbally
- Supervisory experience considered an asset
Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment
- Ability to work in varied environments including confined spaces and in adverse weather conditions
- Maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license throughout employment.
- A criminal record check satisfactory to Utilities Kingston at the successful candidate's own expense
