OV Burger Bar
Prince Rupert
Be the first hello at Rupert's friendliest hangout spot
You're the first face guests see and the last one they wave to. Every shift, you set the tone for the whole room.
OV Burger Bar is hiring a Host. It's fast, it's lively, and it's one of the best ways to get your foot in the door of hospitality. No restaurant experience? No problem. If you love a buzzing room and you're positive with people, we'll teach you the rest.
Come for the burger. Stay for everything else.
We're tucked inside Rupert's oldest hotel, serving custom blended patties (never frozen, always smashed on a hot griddle), cold drinks, and the kind of energy that makes you want to stay for one more. We've got a sports side, an ocean-view side, and a team that genuinely likes working together.
Good food needs good people.
What you'll be up to
You run the front door and keep the floor in rhythm. A typical shift looks like this:
- Own the first hello and the last goodbye. Every guest gets both, and you set the mood for everything in between.
- Run the door. Seating, reservations, waits, and the occasional curveball. The door has its rules, and you'll know them.
- Keep the room in rhythm. A busy floor is a bit of a juggling act, and the whole team feels how well you play it.
- Be the link. Between guests and servers, kitchen and bar, front door and back of house.
- Read the room. A restaurant is always telling you something if you're paying attention.
- Keep learning.
The host stand is a front-row seat to how the whole place runs.
What you bring
Attitude matters more than a résumé. You might be a great fit if you:
- You light up around people and love the buzz of a busy room.
- You stay steady when the pace picks up.
- You're observant and notice things others miss.
- You're a self-starter who sees what needs doing.
- You're a team player who isn't shy about asking for help.
- You're happy on your feet for a whole shift.
Restaurant experience is a nice bonus, not a requirement. We'll train you.
Why you'll love it
- A real start in hospitality. The host stand is the best seat in the house for learning how a restaurant runs, from the door to the kitchen to the bar.
- Energy all shift. Game nights, busy rushes, regulars who know your name. It's never a dull one.
- Room to grow. Learn the floor, build your skills, and see where it takes you.
- A team that has your back. We check in on each other, and asking for help is encouraged.
- Pay and hours: $18.25 an hour plus tip outs. Up to 20 hours a week, mostly 4-hour evening shifts (think 5 to 9 PM, give or take). Evenings are a must. Perfect for part-timers.
- Perks: Employee discount on meals for team members.
