Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented HVAC Site Lead to spearhead our residential new construction and custom home projects from rough-in to finishing. In this role, you will own the job site, manage the layout, and lead an apprentice to deliver flawless, high-end installations. This is a fast-paced, hands-on construction role—not a residential service or repair position.Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Lead custom residential and new build HVAC projects from initial rough-in (ducting, venting, equipment positioning) through to final finishing and trim-out.
- Apprentice Leadership: Manage, mentor, and work alongside an apprentice; delegate tasks efficiently to keep projects on timeline and within scope.
- Blueprint & Layout Mastery: Read and precisely interpret architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and mechanical schematics to lay out ductwork and systems independently.
- Job Site Coordination: Manage on-site logistics, track material needs proactively, and coordinate seamlessly with home builders, general contractors, and other trades (plumbing, electrical).
- Quality & Code Compliance: Ensure all duct design, airflow calculations, and equipment installations meet municipal building codes and our strict high-end quality standards.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven Residential Construction Experience: Deep experience specifically in HVAC rough-ins and finishes for custom homes or residential new builds.
- Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated ability to run a residential job site independently and effectively direct the work of an apprentice or helper.
- Sheet Metal & Duct Design Expertise: Strong hands-on skills in sheet metal layout, custom duct fabrication, and installation.
- Advanced Blueprint Reading: Exceptional ability to read structural and mechanical drawings and catch potential architectural conflicts before they happen.
- Valid Driver’s License: A clean driving record is required to travel between job sites.
Assets (Highly Valued but Not Required)
- Refrigeration Experience in New Builds: Experience laying out, piping, and installing refrigeration lines for heat pumps, multi-zone ductless mini-splits, and central A/C systems in new construction environments.
- Formal Trade Qualifications: A valid HVAC/Sheet Metal credential (such as a Red Seal or equivalent) or active registration in a formal apprenticeship program is a strong plus, but hands-on expertise and field leadership are what matter most.
Ideal Candidate Traits
- Construction Mindset: Prefers the agile environment of a construction site over running daily residential service/repair calls.
- Autonomous & Accountable: A natural problem-solver who takes complete ownership of the job site and does not require hand-holding.
- High Attention to Detail: Takes pride in clean, airtight ductwork and perfectly level equipment lines—crucial for high-end custom homes.
- Local to Lower Mainland: Ideally based in or near the North Vancouver area with a reliable commute.
