Safety Coordinator

Position Overview

RJV is seeking a proactive and safety-focused Safety Coordinator to support our fabrication and manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant workplace while ensuring employees have the training, equipment, and resources necessary to perform their work safely.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily safety activities, managing first aid and safety supplies, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Administration

- Support and maintain the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program.
- Maintain safety records, statistics, and compliance documentation.
- Track corrective actions and ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
- Assist with developing and updating safe work practices and procedures.

Floor & Shop Safety Monitoring

- Conduct routine shop and yard inspections.
- Monitor daily work activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and behaviours and work with supervisors to correct them.
- Verify proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
- Participate in pre-job hazard assessments and toolbox meetings.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the facility.

First Aid & Emergency Preparedness

- Manage and maintain the first aid room and emergency response supplies.
- Perform regular inspections of first aid kits,



eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits, and emergency equipment.
- Coordinate first aid responses and incident reporting documentation.
- Assist with emergency response planning and emergency drills.
- Maintain records of first aid incidents and treatments.

Tool, PPE & Supply Management

- Manage inventory and distribution of:
- First aid supplies
- PPE
- Safety equipment
- Shop consumables
- Small tools and equipment
- Maintain stock levels and coordinate purchasing requests.
- Track issuance and return of company tools and safety equipment.
- Ensure required safety signage remains visible and in valuable condition.

Incident Investigations & Reporting

- Assist in investigating incidents, near misses, and hazard reports.
- Document findings and generate corrective action reports.
- Track completion of corrective actions.
- Analyze incident trends and recommend preventative measures.

Training & Employee Support

- Coordinate employee onboarding and safety orientations
- Deliver safety talks and toolbox meetings.
- Promote employee engagement in workplace safety initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance

- Assist in maintaining compliance with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
- Support client and customer safety requirements.




- Ensure required inspections and certifications remain current.
- Participate in external safety audits and customer inspections when required.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in a safety, manufacturing, industrial, construction, or oil & gas environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Comfortable working both in an office setting and on the shop floor.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications

- Standard First Aid certification.
- Incident Investigation training.
- Experience in fabrication, modular construction, pressure piping, or oilfield manufacturing environments.
