Founded in 1972, NCO primarily works alongside relatives exiting western justice systems, their families, and communities, supporting healing journeys rooted in dignity, culture, and self-determination.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mino-Ayâwin Pimêtisiwin Pathfinder develops, coordinates, and facilitates culturally responsive, trauma-informed,



and relative-centered programs, workshops, support groups, and community initiatives.

Working alongside relatives, NCO staff, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community organizations, justice partners, and other stakeholders, the Pathfinder helps identify community needs and develops meaningful opportunities for healing, learning, connection, and support.

This role also strengthens NCO's community partnerships, supports staff development, tracks program outcomes, and helps ensure NCO's community programming remains culturally approachable, safe, welcoming, and accessible.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Program Development & Facilitation

- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate culturally responsive programs, workshops, support groups, learning opportunities, and community events.
- Identify community needs, service gaps, and opportunities for recent or expanded programming.
- Develop programs using Indigenous ways of being alongside trauma-informed, strength-based, and relative-centered approaches.
- Maintain consistent schedules for programs, workshops, support groups, and community events.
- Create meaningful opportunities for relatives to provide feedback and help shape programming.
- Support culturally appropriate, welcoming, and safe spaces for learning, connection, and healing.

Community Partnerships & Engagement

- Build and strengthen relationships with Indigenous organizations, community agencies, justice partners, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and other supports.
- Maintain knowledge of community resources and connect relatives with appropriate programs, services, and supports.
- Work collaboratively with partner organizations to develop and deliver accessible community programming.
- Strengthen awareness of NCO programs, workshops, support groups, and community events.
- Represent NCO respectfully and professionally within the community.
- Support appropriate community and partner use of NCO program spaces while considering safety, confidentiality, cultural protocols, and community needs.

Program Operations & Leadership





- Maintain accurate program, workshop, support group, referral, participation, and statistical information.
- Develop culturally appropriate ways to measure and communicate program outcomes while protecting the privacy and dignity of relatives.
- Maintain confidential program records, files, and information in accordance with NCO policies.
- Support annual program planning, including identifying budget, facility, resource, and programming needs.
- Mentor NCO staff developing skills in program facilitation, community engagement, workshops, and support groups.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other duties that support NCO's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Education, training, lived experience, cultural knowledge, or relevant experience in program development, facilitation, community outreach, or partnership development.
- Experience developing or facilitating programs, workshops, support groups, community events, or culturally appropriate learning spaces.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, histories, protocols, and ways of being.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, strength-based, human-centered, and relative-centered approaches and their connection to Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and healing.
- Experience working with or understanding western justice systems and barriers experienced by relatives returning to community is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with community organizations, Indigenous organizations, justice partners, and other supports.
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and other Calls to Action, Calls for Justice, and initiatives affecting Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience with grant writing, funding proposals, or program funding applications is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn required databases and tracking systems.
- Valid Manitoba Class 4 or Class 5 driver's license.
- First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification, or willingness to obtain required certifications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
