In this vital role, you will lead a dedicated crew responsible for removing snow and ice from sidewalks, pathways, and public spaces. Duties
Lead and coordinate a team of snow removal workers to efficiently clear sidewalks, walkways, and designated public areas during winter storms.
Operate snow removal equipment such as plows, shovels, blowers, and salt spreaders safely and effectively.
Ensure all safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents or injuries during snow removal operations.
Monitor weather conditions continuously to plan timely responses for snow and ice accumulation.
Communicate clearly with team members to assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure work is completed to high standards.
Conduct inspections of completed work to verify safety and quality standards are met before closing shifts.
Maintain equipment, supplies, and record keeping related to snow removal activities.
Experience
Proven supervising experience in outdoor maintenance or construction projects, with a focus on snow removal preferred.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and organize a team under challenging weather conditions.
Hands-on experience operating snow removal machinery or related equipment is highly desirable.
Background in landscape or construction work that demonstrates physical stamina and attention to safety standards.
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
Compensation & Hours
Hourly wage will be based on previous snow removal and equipment operating experience.
Weekly hours will fluctuate depending on weather conditions and snow/ice events. As this is a weather-dependent position, hours may vary significantly from week to week throughout the winter season.
We offer a 16-week Guaranteed Hours Program, running approximately from mid-November to mid-March. During this period, eligible employees are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours on each bi-weekly pay cheque, providing more consistent income throughout the winter season.
