Company Description The Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma is a community-based, incorporated, registered charity dedicated to supporting survivors of trauma. It provides specialized and accessible psychotherapy and counselling services, provides training and education opportunities, and promotes public awareness about trauma, recovery, and best practices in trauma-informed care. Since 1991, CTSACT has been committed to contributing to a safer and more informed community for clients and practitioners.

Role Description Our Associates are the heart of the Centre! Each Associate operates under the banner of CTSACT while running their own independent private practice. Associates provide individual, group and/or family counselling services (depending on training and expertise), support operations and programming, participate in our reduced fee program, contribute to fundraising and outreach initiatives, and may support trauma-focused training in the community.

There is no fee-split, with all therapists retaining the fees they collect. All Associates are registered mental health professionals and may be Registered Psychotherapists, Registered Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, or another registered mental health skilled licensed to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy in Ontario.

An Associate position includes:

- Office rental space for 2.5 days per week at our office at 11 Rosemount Avenue
- Client referrals from the CTSACT, depending on demand and Associate’s skill set
- Access to weekly Peer Consultation
- Inclusion on the CTSACT website
- A dedicated and personalized CTSACT email address
- Opportunities to develop skills in group therapy, training, and consultation
- The opportunity to set your own fees, work your chosen hours, and build your private practice in a supportive environment

An Associate’s responsibilities include:

- Volunteering 10-15 hours a month, assisting with the development and coordination of programs, procedures, and operations at CTSACT
- Attendance at monthly Steering Committee and Peer Consultation meetings
- Providing consistent and high-quality trauma therapy services to your population of choice
- Managing your own administrative duties in practice such as bookings, notes, fee collection, etc.

Requirements include but are not limited to:

- Membership in good standing with a regulatory body that allows the applicant to practice the controlled act of psychotherapy in Ontario (ex. CRPO, OCSWSSW, CPO, CPSO, etc.)
- Professional liability insurance
- Experience in the treatment of interpersonal trauma and knowledge of best practices when working with survivors of trauma, including childhood sexual abuse and dissociation
- Knowledge of evidence-based and second-line therapeutic modalities (e.g., CPT, CBT, DBT, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, ACT, etc.) and trauma-informed practice
- Supervision by a trauma-informed Clinical Supervisor
- Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build safe, trusting therapeutic relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Well organized, takes initiative and follows-through with tasks and commitments
- Commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and non-discriminatory, client-centered care for individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Solid organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate records and using clinical or practice management systems.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent graduate training) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related mental health field, with eligibility or registration with a relevant regulatory body.
- Experience providing therapy in a community, non-profit, or charity setting is an asset; training in trauma-specific interventions is highly beneficial.
