Position Description

This role follows a hybrid work model and requires attendance at our downtown Toronto office and/or client office a minimum of 4 days per week. This requirement is subject to change at any time based on business and client needs.

We are seeking an experienced Selenium Automation Tester to support quality engineering initiatives within a Banking and Capital Markets environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing business and technical requirements, designing test scenarios, and developing and executing automated and manual tests to ensure high-quality application delivery. The role requires strong hands-on automation experience with Selenium, Java, Playwright, and API testing, combined with an understanding of Banking and Capital Markets applications and business processes.

The individual will work closely with developers, business analysts, Product Owners, Test Leads, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Your future duties and responsibilities

- Review business and technical requirements, features, user stories, design documentation, and acceptance criteria to determine appropriate testing coverage.
- Analyze requirements and identified risks to define functional and non-functional test scenarios.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Java, and Playwright.
- Build, enhance, and maintain reusable automation components and test frameworks.
- Perform API testing to validate backend services, integrations, data exchanges, and application functionality.
- Develop detailed test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and solution designs.
- Execute functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and other applicable testing.
- Apply Banking and Capital Markets domain knowledge when analyzing requirements, business workflows, risks, test scenarios, and expected results.
- Identify and prepare appropriate test data required for test execution.
- Execute test cases in accordance with established QA processes and maintain accurate results within designated test management tools.
- Identify, document, and track defects through resolution, providing clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.




- Participate in defect triage meetings and collaborate with development teams to investigate and resolve issues.
- Provide regular testing status, defect updates, risks, and quality metrics to the Test Lead, Product Owner, and/or Manager.
- Follow established testing methodologies, automation standards, tool usage guidelines, and quality engineering best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation frameworks, testing processes, quality controls, and application reliability.
- Collaborate effectively within Agile and/or Waterfall delivery environments.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

- Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and test automation.
- Strong programming experience using Java for test automation.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for modern web application automation.
- Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with API testing and validation of backend services.
- Experience developing and executing functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test cases.
- Experience analyzing requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation to develop comprehensive test coverage.
- Experience with defect management and test management tools.
- Good understanding of QA methodologies, test lifecycle processes, and software development practices.
- Experience working within Agile and/or Waterfall delivery models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail with a consistent focus on quality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.

Banking & Capital Markets Experience
- Experience working within Banking or Financial Services environments.
- Good understanding of Capital Markets applications, workflows, products, or business processes.
- Ability to apply domain knowledge when identifying business-critical scenarios, risks, dependencies, and expected outcomes.

The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,000–$105,000. This role is an existing vacancy."
