The Manitoba Government's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking to fill a Building Projects Technologist position. Reporting to the Building Projects Manager, the successful candidate will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of building construction and renovation projects across Manitoba. The role provides technical expertise and stakeholder coordination to help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Duties
- Support the planning, design, and delivery of building construction and renovation projects.
- Prepare and review technical documents, including plans, specifications, tender documents, and cost estimates.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations on project-related matters.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
Essential
- Completion of Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience preparing construction tender documents,
specifications, plans, and cost estimates for building projects.
- Experience preparing and reviewing design and construction drawings using computer-assisted drafting software, such as AutoCAD or similar software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate and manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Knowledge of building construction practices and compliance requirements, including applicable building codes, legislation, and industry standards.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Effective written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and program management software or similar applications.
