About the company: Established in 1979, Celco Controls has proudly become the largest automation firm in Manitoba. We have done this by advancing our clients’ industrial automation processes through the design and implementation of integrated process control solutions that are more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable.

Celco Controls seeks an accomplished and results-oriented Business Development Manager to continue to lead and accelerate our business development efforts.

Position Summary: The Business Development Manager will be a driven, strategic and hands-on leader responsible for delivering sustained revenue growth, strengthening customer retention, and fostering a high-performance, sales-driven culture across Celco Controls. The incumbent will lead a high-performing team of Business Development Executives and Estimators, with a relentless focus on execution, market expansion, customer relationships, and achieving ambitious growth targets.

The successful candidate will combine strong industrial and commercial instincts with exceptional leadership capabilities. They will be responsible for developing talent, optimizing sales processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accountability, and strategically positioning Celco for continued growth in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

Sales Leadership &

- Business Development Strategy

- Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue growth and business development strategy aligned with Celco’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
- Establish clear sales targets, KPIs, performance expectations, and accountability measures for the business development team.
- Lead the full sales cycle, from prospecting and opportunity development through proposals, negotiations, closing, and customer retention.
- Develop and manage a healthy, predictable sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are prioritized based on strategic fit, probability of success, and profitability.
- Identify and pursue new markets, industries, customers, and strategic growth opportunities.
- Spend time in the field coaching, mentoring, and supporting sales activities, customer meetings, and key pursuits.
- Monitor sales performance, pipeline health, activity levels, forecasts, market opportunities, and progress against growth targets.

Team Leadership, Development &

- Mentorship

- Lead, inspire, coach, and develop a high-energy, high-performance team of Business Development Executives and Estimators.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, objectives, and performance expectations while holding team members accountable for results.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on the recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention of top talent.
- Identify performance gaps and address issues quickly and effectively through coaching, development plans, and appropriate performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, adaptability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and measurable results.
- Provide team members with ongoing opportunities for skill development, mentorship, and career growth.

Customer &

- Market Expansion

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, strategic partners, contractors, consultants, vendors, and other industry stakeholders.
- Drive new customer acquisition while expanding relationships within existing accounts.
- Develop territory and account plans that support both new business development and long-term customer growth.
- Partner with vendors to strengthen Celco’s market positioning, identify opportunities, and enhance customer value.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, customer needs,



and emerging opportunities to identify areas for growth and differentiation.
- Use data-driven insights to develop targeted sales strategies and strengthen customer engagement and retention.
- Represent Celco professionally in the marketplace and serve as a key ambassador for the company’s brand, capabilities, and value proposition.

Sales Process &

- Performance Optimization

- Establish a consistent cadence for pipeline reviews, sales forecasting, performance reporting, and strategic chance reviews.
- Champion CRM adoption, data accuracy, KPI tracking, sales analytics, and consistent sales processes across the team.
- Leverage CRM systems, sales technology, analytics, and automation to improve visibility, efficiency, forecasting accuracy, and team performance.
- Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasts, and sales activity records to support informed decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and increase conversion rates and profitability.
- Develop and implement strategies that strengthen customer retention and maximize long-term account value.

Cross-Functional Collaboration &

- Execution

- Build strong partnerships across estimating, operations, project management, finance, marketing, Human Resources, and senior leadership to ensure seamless execution of business development strategies.
- Work closely with estimating and operations teams to ensure opportunities are effectively evaluated, pursued, priced, and converted into profitable work.
- Collaborate on product positioning, go-to-market strategies, cross-selling initiatives, and new market penetration.
- Promote innovation, market diversification, and opportunities to expand Celco’s products and services.
- Resolve conflicts effectively and facilitate alignment on matters of strategic importance.
- Ensure a seamless transition from sales to operations while maintaining customer confidence and accountability throughout the process.

Strategic Leadership &

- Accountability

- Regularly report to senior leadership on revenue performance, pipeline health, forecasts, market conditions, strategic opportunities, and progress against growth objectives.
- Use market intelligence and business performance data to make informed strategic recommendations.
- Identify risks and opportunities early and take decisive action to keep the organization on track.
- Foster a results-oriented environment where execution, accountability, customer value, and profitable growth remain at the forefront of decision-making.

Supervisory

- Required; will supervise and lead the Business Development team.

Travel

- As required, approximately 15% per year travel expected.

Qualifications Proven leader with 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience and a demonstrated track record of scaling revenue, gross profit, customer relationships, and high-performing teams within a technical, project-based, electrical automation, or industrial sales environment. - Industry Expertise

- 10+ years of progressive experience in sales and business development leadership, with private equity-backed or high-growth company experience in the electrical automation industry considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of consistently growing and scaling revenue, customer relationships, and high-performing teams year over year.
- Proven experience selling to and developing relationships across multiple customer segments, including OEMs, MROs, Systems Integrators, contractors, and end users.
- Experience in capital equipment, industrial automation, electrical, controls, or related technical industries; electrical and automation industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience leading the sale of technical solutions,



engineered systems, capital projects, or project-based solutions.
- Strong understanding of complex, consultative, and multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, sales budgeting, forecasting, territory planning, and incentive program design.
- Strong financial acumen, including the ability to understand and manage revenue, gross profit, margins, budgets, and P&L; performance.
- Solid proficiency with CRM platforms, sales analytics, forecasting tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using data and analytics to identify trends, improve sales performance, and support strategic decision-making.
- Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence and reporting platforms is an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience with AI-enabled sales strategies, automation, and emerging sales technologies is an asset.
- Ability to lead teams through growth, organizational change, and evolving market conditions while maintaining engagement and performance.
- Ability to inspire, challenge, coach, and develop the Business Development team to achieve ambitious individual and team objectives.
- Success implementing and reinforcing modern sales processes, methodologies, tools, and accountability systems.
- Strong strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into clear priorities, measurable actions, and results.
