Job Title: Production Technician Duration: 12-Month Contract Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts XXXX: XXXXXXXXXXX/hour Job Summary We are seeking a Production Technician to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations at a chemical manufacturing facility producing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
The facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support continuous production.
The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry, along with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Schedule This position requires a rotating 12-hour shift schedule: Two weeks of day shifts followed by two weeks of night shifts Shifts run from 7:00 AM 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM 7:00 AM Typical rotation includes 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off , followed by rotation to nights Key Responsibilities Operate, monitor, adjust, and maintain manual and automated pharmaceutical processing equipment.
Charge raw materials into process vessels and monitor manufacturing processes.
Perform production operations such as distillation, filtration, cleaning, and sterilization .
Follow established GMP, GDP, SOP, and safety requirements throughout all production activities.
Accurately record process information and completed activities in batch records and other required documentation.
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and provide technical support during production.
Perform production, filling, packaging,
and assembly activities as required.
Assist with process and equipment validation activities.
Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready production environment.
Perform housekeeping and cleaning activities when production or training activities are not taking place.
Work effectively with supervisors and other members of the manufacturing team to meet production, safety, quality, and operational goals.
Work Workplace & Physical Requirements Work with a variety of chemicals, including solvents, acids, bases, and potentially potent compounds .
Comprehensive training will be provided on chemical handling, PPE, and safety procedures.
Must be comfortable working in a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Respirator use is required.
Must be able to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs.) .
Strong attention to detail is required, particularly when completing manufacturing and regulatory documentation.
Employees are expected to maintain a clean and inspection-ready work area at all times.
Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Post-secondary education or a diploma in a relevant field is an asset.
Previous industrial manufacturing experience required.
Previous pharmaceutical, chemical, or API manufacturing experience is strongly preferred .
Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment is an asset.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately complete documentation.
Willingness to work rotating day and night shifts.
