About the Role
Oppein Cabinetry Toronto is looking for an experienced Custom Full-House Kitchen & Interior Designer to join our growing custom design and sales team.
We are looking for a designer who can think beyond a single kitchen and confidently work on complete custom-home projects. Our full-house projects may include kitchens, vanities, walk-in closets, wardrobes, wall panels, interior doors, entertainment units, built-ins, home offices, wine rooms, and other custom millwork.
This is a client-facing design and sales position. The successful candidate should combine strong creative design ability with technical cabinetry and millwork knowledge and be comfortable guiding clients from the initial design concept through quotation, revisions, order confirmation, production, and installation coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with homeowners, builders, contractors, developers, and interior designers to understand project requirements, design preferences, budgets, and timelines.
- Develop complete design concepts for custom kitchens and full-house cabinetry/millwork packages.
- Create floor plans, elevations, detailed cabinetry drawings, and qualified 3D renderings.
- Design kitchens, vanities, closets, wardrobes, wall panels, TV units, built-ins, home offices, wine rooms, and other custom cabinetry.
- Recommend and coordinate cabinet finishes, door styles, materials, hardware, countertops, appliances, and other design elements.
- Review site measurements and translate them into accurate designs and production specifications.
- Prepare client presentations, quotations, revisions,
and final design packages.
- Present designs and pricing to clients and assist in converting design opportunities into confirmed sales.
- Work closely with the sales, measurement, production, logistics, and installation teams.
- Review drawings, dimensions, materials, and specifications before orders are released to production.
- Coordinate design revisions and technical details with the factory and internal team.
- Follow projects through production and installation and assist in resolving design-related issues when required.
- Manage multiple custom projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Maintain strong communication with clients throughout the design and sales process.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in custom kitchen design, cabinetry, millwork, or full-house interior design.
- Experience with high-end residential projects, custom homes, or full-house renovations is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of kitchen planning, cabinetry construction, custom millwork, materials, hardware, and installation requirements.
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, and site measurements.
- Strong knowledge of dimensions, clearances, appliance specifications, and construction details.
- Strong sense of interior design, colour coordination, materials,
proportions, and current design trends.
- Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and professionally to clients.
- Strong sales and presentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects at different stages.
- Experience working directly with homeowners, builders, contractors, developers, or interior designers is an asset.
Software Requirements
Candidates should have professional working experience with relevant design software, including:
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- 2020 Design / 2020 Fusion
- Chief Architect and/or Revit
- Enscape, V-Ray, 3ds Max, or similar rendering software
- Adobe Photoshop or similar presentation software
- Microsoft Office
Strong AutoCAD skills are preferred. Experience with professional cabinetry/kitchen design software and producing high-quality 3D renderings is a strong asset.
Compensation
Competitive Fixed Base Salary + Commission
