Canadian Energy Services, the drilling fluids division of CES Energy Solutions, is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and highly organized individual to fill the position of Customs Coordinator. This full time, diverse position is located in Calgary, AB and reports directly to the Sourcing and Logistics Manager. The ideal candidate will also have a willingness to work in a fast-paced oil and gas supply chain environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate international, cross-border, and domestic shipments across Canada and the U.S.
- Coordinate customs clearance and work with customs brokers, carriers, suppliers, and internal Logistics and Procurement teams to ensure timely shipment release.
- Prepare, review, and maintain customs and shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, BOLs, certificates of origin, and other required documents.
- Review and maintain HS/HTS classifications, country of origin, duty rates, and applicable tariff requirements.
- Support the review and application of CUSMA/USMCA and other applicable trade agreements.
- Monitor tariffs, surtaxes, trade measures, and regulatory changes that may impact imported products.
- Review customs entries, duties, and taxes for accuracy and work with customs brokers to resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate freight bookings, shipment schedules, delivery requirements, and transportation documentation.
- Work with suppliers and carriers to ensure shipments are properly documented and delivered on schedule.
- Track shipments and proactively follow up on delays, customs holds, documentation issues, and delivery exceptions.
- Maintain customs, shipment,
and logistics records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Support CARM, importer-of-record requirements, customs audits, broker reviews, and other trade compliance initiatives.
- Support duty recovery, refunds, drawback, and other customs-related opportunities where applicable.
- Provide customs and logistics information to Procurement, Sourcing, Operations, and other internal teams to support supply chain decisions.
- Maintain logistics and customs databases and reporting related to shipments, duties, tariffs, classifications, and freight activity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in customs, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related field.
- Customs or trade compliance designation/certification would be an asset.
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. customs processes and cross-border shipments.
- Strong understanding of HS/HTS classification, country of origin, duties, tariffs, and customs documentation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve issues with suppliers, brokers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
