Role Description:

REISA’s Mini-library program encourages literacy amongst 4–5-year-olds. This role involves creating and delivering engaging stories, activities, and interactive sessions for young children in community and program settings.

The Early Childhood

Storyteller will develop age-appropriate content, write and adapt stories, and incorporate visual aids or simple photography to support early literacy and language development. REISA has partnered with two daycares in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies.

The Early Childhood

Storyteller will be animating 15 sessions of 30 minutes in total, starting in November 2026 until March 2027. The Storyteller will have the support of REISA’s Early Childhood Coordinator when needed. During the sessions, the Storyteller will be:

- Singing nursery rhymes
- Reading one book aloud to the group (one week in English and one week in French)
- Encouraging the children to speak about the book they borrowed the previous week; who was the main character, what was the story about; what did they like about the book
- Helping the children pick out recent books to borrow
- If there is time, having them color a drawing or watch a fun, child-friendly exercise video on YouTube

Qualifications

- Strong communication skills, including clear spoken English and the ability to engage young children and families.
- Writing and storytelling skills to create, adapt, and present age-appropriate narratives and early literacy content.
- Photography and basic editorial skills to capture and present program activities for internal use and outreach.
- Experience working with young children in educational, community, or childcare settings.




- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in promoting language and literacy is an asset.
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and community partners.
- Organizational skills to plan sessions, manage materials, and keep accurate records.
- Post-secondary education or training in education, early childhood, communications, arts, or a related field is an advantage.
- Fluent in English and French

Company Description REISA – Le Réseau de l’Est de l’Île pour les Services en Anglais is a community organization established in 2005 that focuses on improving access to services for English-speaking communities in the East and North ends of Montreal. It supports partnership development in three key areas: expansion of local services, outreach to new services, and community capacity-building. REISA has identified Youth, Seniors, Special Needs, and Mental Health as priority sectors for development.

By advancing these priorities, the organization aims to strengthen the vitality, health, and well-being of the English-speaking minority community. Team members collaborate with a range of local partners and stakeholders to design and deliver responsive community initiatives.

Role Description The Early Childhood Storyteller is a full-time, on-site role based in Montreal, QC. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with program staff, preparing storytelling materials, facilitating group sessions, and documenting activities for reporting and communication purposes. The role also includes gathering feedback from children, families, and partners, and contributing ideas to improve early childhood programming aligned with REISA’s mission.
