The Opportunity The role of Field Support Technician is a hands-on, field-based position supporting Deveraux's in-house smart access control platform, across our residential portfolio in Calgary and Edmonton, with travel to support the launch of our new Toronto sites. Based in Calgary, this position works closely with our software development team, property management staff, and third-party vendors as the first point of contact when access control, hardware, or network issues arise on site. The main goal of this position is to triage and resolve issues quickly, escalating to the software team when needed, while also supporting device programming, site rollouts and retrofits, inventory, and staff training.

What you bring...
Formal Education or Equivalent
- Diploma or certificate in Information Technology, Network or Computer Systems Technology, Electronics (or related field), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Years of Experience
- 2-4 years in field technical support, IT support, or access control / security systems roles (preferred).
- Hands-on experience programming, setting up, or troubleshooting access control hardware such as controllers, fob readers, electronic locks, gateways, and intercoms.
- Experience diagnosing on-site network issues, including switches, routers, ISP modems, PoE, and cabling.
- Experience administering or supporting mobile apps or cloud-based (SaaS) platforms.
- Experience in a customer-facing support role, including logging, tracking, and reporting issues through to resolution.
Specialized skills, knowledge or certifications unique to this role
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g. TCP/IP, DHCP, Wi-Fi, PoE).
- Robust, methodical troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network issues.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to software developers, vendors, and non-technical staff.
- Comfortable testing new software features and documenting findings.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail for inventory and issue tracking.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel).
- Valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract plus own vehicle insurance.
- Able to perform physical work, including lifting, using ladders, and working in parkades and outdoors in winter conditions.
- Willingness to travel frequently between Calgary and Edmonton and periodically to Toronto.
- Availability for occasional after-hours / on-call support.
You will...
- Serve as the first point of contact for on-site access control, hardware, and network issues across the Calgary and Edmonton portfolio.
- Triage and resolve issues in the field, escalating to the software team with clear documentation when needed.
- Diagnose basic network problems on site, including switches, routers, residents' ISP modems, PoE, and cabling.
- Monitor the ResiLync Teams support channels and answer staff questions.
- Log, track, and report every issue until it is resolved.
- Provide regular status updates on site issues to the ResiLync team.
Device Programming, Rollouts & Testing
- Program, set up, and test devices (locks, controllers, gateways, intercoms, readers) using the ResiLync app.
- Help with new site rollouts and retrofits, including setting up our new Toronto site.
- Test new features and support software releases on site.
- Run inventory, including counts, transfers between sites, and resolving shortfalls.
Training & Documentation
- Train property and maintenance staff on ResiLync devices and processes.
- Keep staff manuals, guides, and notices up to date.
