About the Chance
St. John Ambulance Saskatchewan is looking for a Finance Officer who brings solid accounting skills and confidence working through complex software and data. Working directly with the Director of Finance, you will manage assigned accounting processes and support financial activity across our provincial operations and training centres.
This role gives equal weight to accounting competence and systems aptitude. You will use Sparkrock 365 and Dynamics CRM to keep records accurate, trace transactions from their source to the ledger, and resolve discrepancies. You will also help improve the workflows and procedures colleagues rely on.
Key Responsibilities
· Process supplier invoices, expenses, corporate credit cards and recurring payments. Check supporting records, coding, tax treatment and approvals, and prepare payment batches for independent authorization.
· Record and apply customer payments, follow up outstanding balances with centres, and process approved credits and refunds.
· Reconcile bank, payment processor and clearing accounts. Trace differences to source transactions and prepare supported corrections within approved policies.
· Reconcile ledger accounts, prepare journals, accruals and prepayments, and complete assigned month-end and year-end tasks and audit working papers.
· Reconcile inventory activity, valuation and cost of sales, and maintain donation records under approved receipting procedures.
· Trace transactions between Dynamics CRM and Sparkrock 365. Investigate missing, duplicate, failed or unapplied entries and coordinate issues requiring further support.
· Use Excel and export systems to reconcile data,
validate totals and prepare controlled imports and journal templates.
· Document procedures, help colleagues follow finance workflows, and test approved improvements and automation with the Director.
Qualifications & Skills
· Postsecondary education in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent education and demonstrated accounting competence.
· Experience independently handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and ledger reconciliations, journal entries and month-end support. You understand double-entry accounting, accruals, prepayments and accounting cut-off.
· Proven ability to learn complex integrated systems, follow transactions across source records and ledgers, and understand how coding, posting and payment application affect the accounts.
· Strong Excel skills, including lookups, filters and pivot tables, to reconcile exported data and validate accounting information.
· A methodical approach to investigating errors, sound judgment about when to seek direction, and clear communication. You manage priorities reliably and handle confidential information with care.
· Experience with Sparkrock 365, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dynamics CRM is an asset. We also value experience in charity or nonprofit accounting, inventory accounting, workflow automation or system implementation. Specific platform experience is helpful; accounting competence and demonstrated systems aptitude are essential.
What We Offer In addition to competitive wages, we offer matching pension contributions, comprehensive benefits and internal programs to support professional development and work-life balance.
