FINANCIAL ANALYST

Location: OCDSB Administration Building; 133 Greenbank RoadPosition Status: 1.0 Regular, Full-timeHours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per weekAffiliation: Union-ExemptSalary Range: $79,091 to $93,069 (Level 5)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Team Manager, the Financial Analyst supports the Finance Department and the District’s Indigenous Education Programs with the day-to-day financial operations, financial reporting, analysis, controls, and the preparation of the budgets. The Analyst also provides financial information and timely data to various government entities including the Ministry of Education and provides financial guidance and support to Indigenous Education Program staff to ensure accurate entries, program monitoring, and financial reporting are completed.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary diploma in Accounting or a related field and four (4) years of experience in accounting, payroll, internal control systems, budgeting and computerized accounting systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Ability to perform end-to-end financial functions and Ministry of Education financial reporting cycle (Estimates,



Revised Estimates and Financial Statements), including maintaining accounting books, records, and monthly reconciliation statements.
- Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), budgeting processes, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal control systems.
- Ability to prepare routine and non-routine financial reports, tracking program expenditures, and conducting material variance analyses for management review.
- Knowledge of municipal agreements, Ministry financial reporting guidelines, and relevant legislative requirements.
- Interpersonal/communication skills to provide and clarify information/data, and respond to inquiries and requests from Board personnel, using tact, diplomacy and with discretion.
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Proven organizational and time management techniques to handle a high volume of work and meet tight deadlines.
- Analytical skills for researching, locating and summarizing data and reports; reconciling and verifying financial data, and resolving problems.
- Ability to work as part of a team, being adaptable and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Intermediate computer literacy and a proven ability to manage complex databases/spreadsheets using Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Docs, Gemini), Microsoft Office (Excel,



Word, PowerPoint), SQL and ERP systems.
