NextPlay HR is a fractional Human Resources partner to founder-led and small-medium sized companies across Canada and the United States. We've been in business for two and a half years, and we're a team of four. We're industry agnostic, so we work with companies across every sector, from early-stage startups to organizations with 100+ employees.

Why This Role Exists

We're growing, and we're adding a Human Resources Business Partner to support our clients and help shape how we deliver as a firm. You'll manage your own client accounts, partner with founders and leaders at every level, and help build the systems and processes behind our work.

What You'll Do

- Partner with clients: advise founders, leadership teams, and managers on employee relations, performance, compensation, policy, and workforce planning
- Run the essentials: support payroll, perks, onboarding, and the everyday questions that keep a business running smoothly
- Bring judgment: understand the business behind the question, and recommend what fits
- Help build NextPlay: set up and manage our work management and time tracking platforms, and contribute to the processes our team uses
- Pitch in: we're a small team, and everyone helps where it's needed

What You'll Bring

- 6+ years of Human Resources experience, including at least 2 years in a client-facing or business partner role
- Payroll experience
- Working knowledge of employment standards across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong time management, with the ability to balance several clients and priorities at once
- Attention to detail, from payroll to policy
- Clear,



confident communication with people at every level of an organization
- An interest in how people decisions affect business results

Nice to have:

- Cross-border experience, Canada and the United States
- Experience in unionized environments, including working with collective agreements
- French, spoken and written
- A Certified Human Resources Professional designation, or progress toward one

- Direct access: you'll work closely with Chantelle Perry, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, who brings 20 years of Human Resources leadership, a Master of Business Administration, the Certified Human Resources Leader designation, and Wharton's Chief Human Resources Officer program.

- A voice in how we grow: with a team our size, your ideas shape how we work. Decisions are made quickly and close to the work.
- Room to develop: as NextPlay grows, there will be opportunities to take on more. We'll talk regularly about where you want to go.

The Details

- Salary: $75,000 to $100,000 base, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus
- Time off: 4 weeks' vacation, personal days, and paid statutory holidays
- Benefits: meaningful benefits that support your health and wellbeing
- Work model: mostly remote, with onsite client work in the Greater Toronto Area about 10% to 15% of the time
