Job Summary: The Senior Business Architect is responsible for analyzing government business architecture, developing and maintaining enterprise business capabilities aligned with corporate strategy, and contributing to business transformation plans.
This role involves collaboration with senior management and project teams to design capability models, ensure architectural governance, and support enterprise-wide business and information architecture initiatives within the Ontario Government framework.
Responsibilities: Analyze government information relevant to business architecture and consult with government contacts.
Conduct focus group workshops to gather and validate business architecture elements.
Develop and maintain business capabilities aligned with corporate strategy and business plans.
Create and revise business architecture artifacts within the Enterprise Information Architecture Federated Framework.
Model business at enterprise and core business levels, including capability models and architectural solutions.
Map capability functionality to internal and external resources.
Develop business transformation plans in collaboration with senior business management.
Support delivery and operational business functions through business solutions.
Maintain architectural governance and controls over implementation.
Contribute to enterprise blueprints to align strategic objectives with tactical demands.
Lead and collaborate with project teams including IT Business Architects, project leads, product managers, and others.
Engage with Enterprise Architecture teams and review boards during AGP engagements.
Required Skills: Minimum 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in Business Architecture on large complex projects.
Proven experience in developing business architectures using Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture methodologies and GO-ITS.
Ability to develop Program Area Business Architecture and corresponding Business Architecture Documentation (BAD) per OPS standards.
Experience aligning Business Architecture Documents with Solution Requirements Documents (SRD) and Information Architecture Documents (IAD) ensuring vertical integration.
Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Experience collaborating with executives and senior management.
Strong knowledge of business modeling techniques including BPMN, Value Chain Analysis, Business Outcomes, KPIs, and performance measures.
Ability to maintain architectural governance and controls over Business and Information Architecture.
Experience with government or large organization enterprise and core business level architecture.
Desired Skills: Knowledge of Zachman Framework.
Experience in Information Architecture and Application Architecture domains.
Familiarity with OPS Enterprise Architecture governance processes, especially Governance Point 1 (AGP1).
Understanding of Privacy, Records Keeping, and Accessibility (AODA) regulations as related to Business Architecture.
Ability to design Business Architectures leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
Data modeling and development of solution and program area Data Architecture.
Experience with Information Management including Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Records Management.
Knowledge of Ideation, Information/Data Requirements Analysis, and Test Strategy planning.
Familiarity with Protected methodology and Ontario Digital Service's Service Design principles.
Experience with Enterprise Architecture modeling tools such as Power
Designer, Sparx EA, and Orbus.
Ability to advise on procurement documentation and evaluation for acquiring services or solutions.

Desirable Skills including frameworks, governance, regulations, and advanced architecture skills (30%).
