Job Summary: The Senior UX Designer is responsible for creating user-friendly, visually appealing, and highly functional interfaces across digital platforms.
This role involves leading user-centered design processes, conducting user research, and iterating designs based on testing and feedback to deliver intuitive and engaging user experiences for web and mobile applications.
Responsibilities: Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
Design overall product functionality to ensure excellent user experience and iterate based on user testing.
Design interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials as needed.
Apply a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs.
Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys; translate findings into sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
Facilitate client product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and user testing optimized for various devices and interfaces.
Identify design problems and devise elegant, strategic solutions related to core and new product functions and features.
Gather and incorporate user feedback to refine existing interfaces.
Manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong client relationships.
Required Skills: Proven experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
Experience as a UX, interactive, or UI designer for web and mobile applications.
Ability to define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
End-to-end user research management from recruiting to synthesis.
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canva.
Thorough understanding of web development technology limitations and appropriate use.
Experience designing online programs emphasizing emotional aspects of human experience.
Skilled in creating sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
Experience iterating product functionality based on user testing.
Robust collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams including developers, QA, and business stakeholders.
Effective communication skills for documentation, reporting, and conveying design concepts.
Desired Skills: Knowledge of accessibility testing and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Familiarity with the Ontario Design System and Digital Service Standard.
Experience handling complex design challenges involving legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder relationships.
Prior experience in public service or Ontario Public Service (OPS) environments.

Leadership in UX projects and stakeholder engagement.
