Overview
Source Environmental Associates Inc. (Source) is a unique team of scientists and engineers dedicated to creating innovative and reliable water quality solutions within the mining industry. We have an opening for an Intermediate or Senior Consultant, with a focus on water related mitigation design in mining. Applicants should have a relevant bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in chemistry, engineering, geology or a related discipline.
Experience in geochemistry (MLARD assessment and management), GoldSim water and load balance modelling, hydrogeology and/or geology is an asset.
This position can be hybrid from our North Vancouver Office or home based (within western Canada) with sufficient experience. The position provides exposure to mining projects at various phases including EA, permitting, expansions, ongoing life-of-mine and closure.
Registration or eligibility for Skilled Designation in BC is considered an asset (e.g. P.Geo., P.Eng).
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mine geochemistry, mine water quality or environmental engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in metal leaching and acid rock drainage (ML/ARD) characterization and prediction including development of geochemical source terms OR experience developing site-wide water quality and water balance models (e.g., GoldSim, PHREEQC, or similar).
- Ability to work as an intermediate or senior environmental consultant, managing projects and meeting deadlines.
Other Valued Assets and Duties:
- Commitment to quality, teamwork, client service, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong technical writing skills,
with a track record of preparing and reviewing reports that meet regulatory requirements.
- Managing projects, including scope, budget and schedule, and serving as a primary technical contact for clients.
- Mentoring junior staff and actively contributing to their professional growth — a valued and meaningful part of this role.
- Ability to review water related components of mining Applications and support clients with regulatory/technical processes.
- Experience in hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality effects assessment, water treatment and/or water resource management,
- Experience in geochemistry and ML/ARD monitoring and management,
- Experience in mine closure and reclamation planning, including pit lake and mine waste facility design,
- Experience with regulatory approvals, mining, consulting or EA / permitting.

Source offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. We support work-life balance with flexible work options and teamwork to cover for each other.
Salary: $85,000 - $135,000, depending on previous work experience, potential for annual bonus pay.
Schedule: Hours flexible, 25-40 hrs/week
