You will be part of our Hazel McCallion LRT project, playing a key role in driving its success and contributing to one of Canada’s most exciting infrastructure projects.
About the Job
We are hiring a Landscape Technical Coordinator to step into an existing role on our Design team on the Hazel McCallion project. This position reports to the Senior Technical Manager.
What You Will Be Doing?
- Own assigned landscape and public realm technical packages, priorities and outstanding actions through construction support and closeout.
- Maintain regular site presence and participate in field walks with construction, survey and landscape subcontractors to identify issues early and drive resolution.
- Coordinate directly with landscape architects, civil designers and relevant Engineers of Record to resolve design clarifications and field discrepancies.
- Review IFC packages, landscape drawings, specifications, shop drawings and material submissions for constructability, completeness, sequencing and compliance.
- Coordinate grading, drainage, hardscape, planting, soils and irrigation interfaces with civil works, utilities, structures, roadworks and rail systems.
- Resolve conflicts involving finished levels, accessible routes, tree pits, root zones, underground services, street furniture and lighting foundations with the relevant disciplines.
- Ensure RFIs received from construction teams or subcontractors are clearly articulated with technical background, sketches, photographs and proposed solutions,
- Maintain track of all RFIs, submittals, NCRs, SIs,
CRRs and review comments through timely closure.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary and subcontractor coordination sessions; assign actions, resolve scope gaps and escalate risks with solutions and schedule impacts.
- Coordinate approved design revisions and Site Instructions with affected teams, including restoration limits and interfaces with adjacent properties and municipal works.
- Perform quantity take-offs and support technical scopes, procurement packages, tender evaluations and submissions for planting, soils, paving, irrigation and street furniture.
- Support construction sequencing and seasonal planning, including planting windows, material availability, irrigation testing and protection of completed works.
- Coordinate municipal and authority technical comments with the project’s permits team; maintain document workflows, approval records and current technical registers.
- Support inspections, deficiency closure, establishment and maintenance requirements, as-builts and turnover documentation; promote safety, quality and lessons learned.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Technology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in landscape, public realm, infrastructure or complex external works construction, preferably with a contractor in a technical coordination capacity.
- Demonstrated experience supporting construction through coordination with landscape architects, civil designers, subcontractors and field teams.
- Working knowledge of hardscape, planting, soils, irrigation, grading and drainage, with strong understanding of civil and utility interfaces.
- Ability to interpret landscape and civil drawings, specifications, survey levels and construction details and assess constructability and sequencing.
- Familiarity with RFI, NCR, SI, CRR and IFC review processes, quantity take-offs, procurement support and schedule integration.
- Knowledge of applicable municipal standards, accessibility requirements,
tree protection and landscape restoration requirements; Ontario transit or public realm experience is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Bluebeam and document management systems such as Procore or Aconex; familiarity with AutoCAD and model coordination tools is an asset.
- PMP certification or a relevant professional designation is an asset.
Expected Compensation
Successful candidates chosen for this position can expect to earn between $80,000.00 CAD - $100,000.00 CAD. The exact salary you will earn within this range is dependant on the specific project to which you are assigned.
