Seeking an Associate Lawyer with 2+ years of call in a Canadian province and solid litigation experience to manage complex, high-stakes plaintiff-side personal injury and civil litigation matters in Nova Scotia. The role offers substantial file autonomy, direct mentorship, and no billable-hour or business-development targets.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation files from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and settlement documentation
- Conduct witness interviews and coordinate experts
- Manage discoveries, mediations, and settlement negotiations
- Communicate with clients regarding strategy, file status, and settlement decisions
- Make tactical file-management and discovery decisions with strategic guidance
- Attend trials alongside senior counsel or other lawyers
- Develop expertise in personal injury, LTD, wrongful termination,
and complex multi-party litigation
Qualifications
- 2+ years of call in a Canadian province
- Litigation experience; plaintiff or defence background considered
- Robust file-management and organizational skills
- Comfortable with client-facing work, negotiations, and settlement discussions
- Practical and pragmatic approach to litigation and resolution
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with senior counsel
- Comfortable challenging strategy constructively and executing agreed-upon plans
- Personal injury, occupiers' liability, or civil litigation experience preferred
- Experience with discovery and motion practice preferred
