Cashier / Sandwich Builder – Fox in the Henhouse Orillia

Wage: $18.00/hour tips

Fox in the Henhouse is getting ready to open our new location in downtown Orillia, and we're looking for a few great people to join our opening team.

We're a small, independent food business known for fried chicken sandwiches, tenders, house-made sauces, seasonal specials, and good food made with care.

For this position, restaurant experience isn't required. We're happy to train the right person, and this could be a great first job for someone who is dependable, friendly, and wants to learn.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on position and you'll be trained to work in different areas of the restaurant, including:

- Greeting customers and taking orders
- Using the POS and handling payments
- Building and finishing sandwiches
- Packaging dine-in, takeout, online, and delivery orders
- Preparing simple ingredients and helping with prep
- Restocking during service
- Keeping your work area clean and organized
- Helping with opening and closing duties
- Following food safety and cleanliness procedures
- Jumping in to help your teammates when things get busy

Allergies & Dietary Restrictions

Taking food allergies and dietary restrictions seriously is an important part of working at Fox in the Henhouse.

You'll be trained on our ingredients and procedures for handling dietary and allergen-related orders, with a particular focus on gluten allergies and celiac-related requests.

We don't expect you to arrive knowing everything.



We do expect you to be willing to learn, follow our procedures carefully, understand the importance of preventing cross-contact, and know when to involve a manager if you're unsure about an order.

When it comes to allergies, we'd always rather you ask than guess.

We don't expect everyone who joins us in this position to have kitchen experience or to immediately work every station.

But if you're interested in learning more, we'd like to give you that prospect.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, employees who want to expand their skills can be trained on additional kitchen responsibilities — including eventually learning to work our deep fryer station.

It's completely okay if you'd rather focus on customer service and sandwich building. But if you discover that you enjoy the kitchen and want to learn more, we'd be happy to help you develop those skills and take on more responsibility over time.

No previous restaurant experience is required. We're happy to consider applicants looking for their first job.

Pay & Tips

$18.00/hour tips

Tips are shared evenly among the entire staff. Everyone contributes to the experience we provide, so our tip pool includes the whole team rather than separating front-of-house and kitchen staff.

About Fox in the Henhouse

Fox in the Henhouse started as a small local food business in Muskoka, built around a pretty simple idea: make really good fried chicken and don't take ourselves too seriously.

We're now opening our first permanent restaurant in downtown Orillia.

Joining our opening team means you'll get to learn the restaurant from the beginning and have an opportunity to grow with us as the business grows.

Pay: $16.90-$18.00 per hour
