Dept. of Education and Early Childhood Development The primary focus of this position involves increasing the capacity of child care programs, and learning and care environments, to ensure the equitable participation of all children.
The Inclusion
Consultant collaborates with child care providers and other professionals to assess programs and environments, to identify and anticipate barriers to equitable participation for all children in early learning and care settings. The incumbent utilizes collaborative approaches to identify, develop and deliver training related to accessible and inclusive practices to child care providers; collaborates with child care service providers to help ensure that the providers’ policies demonstrate commitments to accessibility and inclusion and to welcome all children and families to the service.
The Inclusion
Consultant will assist with potential program and/or equipment modifications; completes research and literature reviews to ensure evidence based practices with respect to equity, accessibility and inclusion in child care settings; coordinates the activities associated with staffing grants to support inclusion; compiles workload statistics and maintains accurate and comprehensive records. The incumbent will perform other duties as required.
Screening Criteria
1 Completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a focus in child development,
(equivalencies will be considered)
- Experience working with behavioral and development assessment
- Experience delivering training (asset)
Assessment Criteria
1. Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures governing child development
2. Knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis
3. Knowledge of inclusion practices
4. Knowledge of Departmental programs and community services (asset)
5. Ability to effectively exchange information
6. Ability to think critically
7. Ability to work independently
8. Relationship building and collaboration
