Overview

We are a family-owned and operated civil construction contractor that works primarily on projects for BC Hydro. We are looking for a reliable and experienced Civil Construction Driver/Labourer to join our underground utilities team.

This is a hands-on position that involves long hours, physical labour, working around heavy equipment, and operating a variety of hand and power tools. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required, as the successful candidate will be responsible for driving a company truck and trailers to and from the job site each day. The successful candidate must be confident driving, towing trailers, transporting construction equipment and materials, and performing general labour duties.

We provide training for required safety certifications and are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, willing to learn, and interested in building a long-term career in civil construction.

Responsibilities

- Drive company trucks to and from construction sites
- Safely tow a 24-foot deck-over trailer
- Transport construction equipment, pipe, materials and other loads
- Properly load, secure and tie down equipment, machinery, pipe and other construction loads
- Assist with underground utility installation and civil construction
- Perform general construction labour, site preparation and clean-up
- Load and unload materials, tools and equipment
- Assist equipment operators and other crew members
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe worksite




- Follow all company and site safety procedures
- Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Proven experience safely towing a 24-foot deck-over trailer
- Experience properly tying down and securing machinery, pipe, equipment and other loads
- Good understanding of secure load securement practices
- Previous civil construction experience
- Underground utilities experience is an asset
- Comfortable performing physical labour and working outdoors
- Reliable, punctual and dependable
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team
- Able to work independently when required
- Willingness to learn and take direction
