Job Overview The Child Care Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of a safe, nurturing, inclusive and developmentally appropriate early learning and childcare program at Kiddies Korner Co-op Nursery School - Courtright Site.

The position is responsible for actively supervising children, assisting with program planning and implementation, supporting children’s individual needs, maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment, completing required documentation, communicating appropriately with families and coworkers, and following Kiddies Korner policies, procedures and applicable childcare requirements.

The Teacher is expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, initiative, positive communication and a genuine commitment to the safety, well-being and development of children.

Responsibilities

- Support lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development
- Assist with supervising children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety and engagement
- Provide attentive caregiving by helping children with routines such as feeding, diapering, and personal hygiene
- Collaborate with team members to adapt activities for children with disabilities or special needs, ensuring inclusive participation
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom workplace that encourages exploration and learning




- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child's progress and needs
- Observe and document children's developmental milestones to support individualized learning plans

Skills

- Prior classroom experience working with young children in early childhood settings
- Experience working with children who have disabilities or special needs, demonstrating patience and adaptability
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and caregiving techniques
- Excellent communication skills to foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members
- Ability to follow safety protocols diligently and respond calmly in emergency situations
- Passion for nurturing children's growth through engaging activities and compassionate care
